Cheers andy, I saw that gauge in your build thread. How well does it illuminate with the new LED in?
Illumination is a bit trial and error, it comes with blue LEDs which are shockingly bright, makes the car undrivable at night. The original LEDs are mounted into a circuit board behind the face, I cut the power feed to them and mounted red LEDs behind the circuit board, they give an oh amount of light, though even distribution is a bit trial and error.
It is just a plain face that is lit up though, not like stock where the light comes through the scale.
Looking at the AEM products, you can easily remove the dial faces (unlike the VDO ones!) and so an (R)S2 replica face could be made up to fit and then installed easily. The only issue is that the bezel will be marginally different to the rest of the VDO gauges and going for a set of 3 AEM gauges would not make financial sense over a zeitronix all-in-one setup.
Cheers'en, AndyC
