    3rd brake light, autocheck problem

So I got the tailgate spoiler fitted to the RS2 this week, and wired up the brake light this morning.
I wired to to the o/s brake light, and they all work now.
The only problem is the autocheck... I don't get the "ok" when I depress the brake pedal, even though the brake lights all work...
Can anyone tell me how they got round the problem, or can anyone give me details on how the autocheck system detects the bulb?

    Hi,

You can dissable the autocheck system (for the lights) by doing the "K Pin" mod, do a search and you will find it. Fairly straight forward, I had to do it when I did my HID upgrade, works a treat...

Can I ask where you got your spoiler, I am looking for on for my RS2 too..

    Good luck..

    Paul

The autocheck is seeing a lower than normal resistance with the extra bulb in circuit. You can either fit a relay or a LED bulb.

        Thanks Newsh.
So Autocheck looks for a specific range of resistance?
I might add a relay... Which relay should I use? Can I get a single relay holder?

          Hi Paul.
I got the spoiler from another forum member who was selling his car.

You've attached it to the wrong wire
There is a thread showing the junction where to hook this up without autocheck tripping
J something I'll see if I can find it or you can search for the thread by graham with the 3rd brake light install details

                If you go onto S2central.net,

                navigate through

                Technical data
                Electrical systems
                S2 current flow diagrams
S2/RS2 wiring diagrams, Audi Coupe S2
MY96-ABY-C (or whatever is relevant for your car)
                E34 Autocheck system

A .pdf will load which has 5 sheets. Page 4 has J124 on it which is the rear lights aurocheck relay and page 5 has J123 the front dip headlights autocheck relay.

You need to connect the centre brake light upstream of the rear autocheck relay so refering to the infamous sheet E34/3, connect it to either the red/black wire on the brake switch or pin 2/54E2 or pin 4/54E1 on the J124 rear autocheck relay. Wire colour is still red/black.

Where is J124 (Rear lights autocheck relay) situated in the RS2?
