Tom, forgive my silly question but what sort of specialist skill is required?
Easy job, 10 minutes to remove the bulb from the warning lamp, problem solved, no worries LOL!

      LOL

There is that way round it, as airbags dont come into MOT

No special skill is required to work on airbag system, although some cars require special ' deactivating' procedures so that the system isnt live when working in it

BTW, Erik, You been driving Miss Daisy? You have a predicted range far too high for any self respecting S2 owner.

Good luck with the stealer tomorrow...

That predicted range is with a completely full tank - was on the way back from the filling station when the airbag light came on!

And thanks for the wishes of luck. It's gonna be interesting since I have previously "persuaded" them (the stealer 200 miles away, not the local dealer with whom I've had good dealings before) to "forget about" charging me for about £700 worth of work they made a total hash of sometime in the past.

          Ck.

Have you tried just clearing the fault codes ? When the airbag light came on on my old S2 the local stealer just cleared the fault codes which got rid of the warning light and it didn't come back on.

They said it could have come on due to low battery voltage or the connector being disturbed when adjusting the seat as the wiring goes under there apparantly

As airbags use explosive charges they are dangerous.

These may help, and I'm serious....

I thought they were Azide gas generators as opposed to explosives. Which is a shame because I only have training in explosive handling to cover 1.4S pyros.

I'll just hollow out a melon and stick it on my head like one of the Gumballers and have someone standing by with a camcorder in case of a 'Jeremy Beadle' moment. Therefor if it does go off accidentally I'd be sure to get £250 from the telly people to buy a new one...

How heavy is an airbag? 5Kg? Must affect performance! Time to remove it.

4.6kg to be more precise. I reckon removing it will be like adding an extra 3 bhp

[QUOTE=Lee]I thought they were Azide gas generators as opposed to explosives.

I didn't actually know what it was , I used a Generic term. Collins dictionary says:
explosion:a violent release of energy resultiong from a rapid chemical or nuclear explosion. Did I sound convincing?

I think azides are technically explosives but probably classed as one of the safest as far as they go since the gas speeds are slow compared to 'high' explosives.

Dirty Sanchez or Jackass....I'll get on the blower to MTV and ask them to fix my airbag fault.
