MAF Cleaning Juice

I have been looking for a cheaper alternitive to getting IPA from Maplins @ £10 per can (one use), as I am now having to clean the MAF every 3 months or so.

Tried Halfords brake cleaner @ £5 per can of spray, which you can use several times. This is the same stuff used to clean model car motors, and leaves no residue, also get a bit of a jet which probably helps lossen sh*te. Worked a treat of mine, and noticeable performance improvement from when dirty .

Apologies if this is widely used already.

You shouldnt need to clean the MAF that often. I dont understand why everyone cleans it so reg???? Mine worked fine even when caked in oil vapour from the tired engine.

Not sure, but if its not cleaned, it stutters massively under acceleration, and MPG drops down to around 15mpg. Its been cleaned twice in the last six months by dunking in IPA, so not sure if the MAF is knackered, or if the dunking hasn't cleaned properly.

There was a noticeable improvement this time with spray, where as last time with IPA it cured stutter, but the car didn't seem to pick up as quickly. Soon know if it doesn't start stuttering for a while.

My MAF cleaning abuse has been on since I had the K&N preoiled filter element. The MAF wire looses its shine after a month or two and mileage worsens abit. Performance aswell. I wonder how its going to be with the cone filter on now.

The brake cleaner spray I use is IPA anyway.
