    eurolights h1s

just fitted the new bulbs from euro light they are xenon charged 12w/70
but when i was having a nose round the engine compartment i noticed a plasticy burning smell and there was smoke coming from the back of the light.
Anyway have taken them out now
Is 70 to much for the wiring or is it likely to be something else
    skint but fast

I dont know how it is with the S2 wires but we have people here with 100w bulbs in the A6 old model with no problem or burning.

Probably melting the plastic projectors? Are the new bulbs the same length as the ones you took out? Or if you have a dodgy wire - it might be heating up and smoking.

The plastic projector cannot withstand the extra heath for long and it mattes and distortes after a while. Not ideal these hi watt bulbs are. sadly enough.

                PIAA Xtreme White bulbs

Not overly impressed - especially for the price.

I just fitted Philips version of the Xenon filled H4s and H1s in my 3B made quite a big difference, I basically couldn't see bu**er all on dip or head, my son even noticed the diff when we were out, they claim 50% extra light for the same wattage which is cool, I'd say 100% more compared to my old worn out halogens.. I think they're called Extreme Whites.. Got em off ebay anyway, fitted some nice sidelight bulbs to match too.

Believe it or not the ur lights are better than S2 if the reflectors are in good nick, in fact the ur is great on a brand new set of reflectors, thing is the heat on the driver's side from the turbo etc. destroys the silvering on the lights so they always look blind in one eye..

You can get even more light out of them by fitting relays as a lot of voltage is dropped by the thin wiring to and from the stalk...
