    Ie Aircon and non aircon!

I have never noticed before and have just plumbed in a complete non aircon loom in my car and now have to remove the ****ing lot to put an aircon version in...

Really? What is different on the AC ones? Then only connector that relates to AC as far as know is T5h?

Yes it's T5h that is missing which goes back to the ECU plug so whatever way I do it it looks like all the heater box ect back out at least

            But there are adapter harnesses:

Item 1 for the non-automatic climate control is 8A0971565C. Item 20 the cars with automatic climate control is 8A0971569C.

That's really odd, so there pins are not there on the ECU connector either?

No the pins are not in the ECU connector and none of the wiring is there or the red plug.

I have semi dissected another loom tonight to trace the wires and it looks as if i can just add the three wires and plug into the loom. I guess the function is to raise the rpm a little when the aircon is engaged.

The only wire that will be a pain as it goes through the hard plastic sheath is the feed to the MTFS but I can solder to that just inside the bulkhead grommet I hope.

I have also dissected an AAN loom tonight and rewired it to similar to an ABY loom so that it can be used in a typ85 car with the reverse inlet. Just incase a future need arises.

The ABY loom that i have traced through tonight is a Sept 1993 loom and also has the immob section but cant quite figure out what it does...

It seems to me that the only difficult wire from MFTS R2 to the underdash loom must be in any R5 motor harness: I have found it in few harnesses I dealt with ('90 NG non-A/C, '92 NG non-A/C, UrS6 )
And 2 wires from Klima ECU to Motronic ECU are easily implementable.

That is really strange - what a pain in the árse!
Mine is a 1994 harness, it also has the anti-theft relay, again I am not sure what it dies or how it works but I hope it won't cause any problems.

When I have used some (not all) immob looms in typ85 conversions I have had to earth out one of the wires to the other engine harness relay's as it will not start.

Can you remember what you had to do Brian?
I have a red relay holder and pink T2 connector on my engine harness that I can't find on any wiring diagrams!

Yes I had to earth either the brown or the brown/black off the top of my head, as I could not find any diagram either so had to trace through the loom to make the relay trigger

Tempomat or without Tempomat is one option that I have found.
