Whats this white box behind my dash?

Immob maybe? Looks like it has 4 rings on it.

This white box looks the same as C4 chassis cars with reader coil in ignition switch and transponder in key. Not sure what year this was intoduced on the B4 but i rekon late 94.

Definately! This is what took my C4 A6 2.8 30v of the road. Its usually reader coil that goes apparantly but still requires new ignition switch with the reader coil.

Exactley matching keys is expensive at audi.So i took a chance and ordered from audi's build code on my 97 car and bingo when arrived my key fit so locks have never been changed. Still have to fit it on the C4. Anyone done one and want to let me know how to get ignition switch off.It all looks very tight under there.

If correct, 4A0 953 234 "control unit for anti-theft device" was superceded to 8D0 953 234 in May 31, 1995 (i.e., near the end of the S2 production).

It was and the later part number is found in the b5

I've put the dash back in but will check the number next time.

Had a look in the key and it has a little glass tube in there

You should take out the related bits before you scarp the car.This i am sure could be retrofitted into an S2 that does'nt have this factory immo as most of them didn't.

You have a white immo box . On 1997+ year cars you'll have black box but it does the same thing. The greenish cylinder in the key is the transponder chip.
