    The Audi Fuse Box

After having an issue with a wiring fault with an S2 and tracing part of the issue to the fusebox I decided to dissect the fusebox for everyone to see...

    The top view

The fusebox is made up of a series of layers
This is the first layer removed

    On to the second layer

    And then the 3rd layer

It may or may not be of some use to someone, as you can see in the pictures water had got into this one and shorted out a few of the tracks

Can it be reassembled again or is this a non-reversable process if you follow me? What I mean to ask is disassembly only possible by unavoidable "destruction" of something in the layers along the way or not?

I cut round this with a grinder to get into it.
It looks like when they are manufactured the plastic outer is heated up and melted to the bottom layer cover.

I don't think you would be able to re use it...

Thanks Brian. Those photos are great. Definitely provide incentive to keep the S2/RS2 fuse boxes dry. Yikes.

I had a feeling that might have been the case. Still very interesting to see inside one none the less.

Yes it just goes to show, that when you get them a little wet, they will deteriorate quickly without you knowing

That's actually a scary amount of shizzle in there, scarier than I thought it would be!
