Try refitting the gauge to see if that completes the circuit again. then you can work from there.

pull all fuses and look over them.

Bit of an oversight by me - The dial backlighting is fine, as is the number plate light. I made the assumption yesterday morning when in light fog I switched on the sidelights and noticed no clock.

What I am missing is: Radio (who cares when you've got 5 cylinders anyway); Clock; interior light and; instrument cluster display. But having the MPG visible isn't good for the mental health of an S2 owner anyway.

So with the stress of buying a house starting to get to me right now I'm marking this one down as ultra-low priority I can just tuck the wires away for now until I need to do something about it.

EDIT: And thanks for all your help fellas

Then you have blown fuse 14. You will have a separate fuse in the back of head unit I'd check that too.

            I. Mean number 4 fuse. I'd imagine one of the wires is tapped into the lighting and in cutting all 3 you blown fuse 4

Just a blown fuse - I'm going to miss being oblivious to how poor my MPG is

But on the plus side I can put the radio back on and be oblivious to any knocks and/or groans instead
