Where can I find the resister pack for the blower?

The resistor pack for my blower is faulty and I have a new replacement unit. Do I need to remove the blower, as I can't see it. I have just taken the glovebox out. Is there anything else that I need to remove? Thanks.

Its clipped on top of the big plastic box behind the glove box, towards the left hand side.

        Thanks for the picture!

The orientation of the blower motor seems to be completely different on the RS2. It doesn't appear to drop from the bottom, but pull out to the rear. This would imply that the resistor pack sits at the top, but there is no room at the top of the blower for the resistor pack. This is a picture taken from the front seat position looking upwards into the dash. As you can see the blower motor pulls out from this position and its all a bit tight in this area. At the top of the picture is the ducting for the side vent and I had to loosen this last time in order to replace the blower motor. I spent so much time last time fiddling around to replace this.

Should I remove the blower motor just to give me a bit more room to see whether I can find the resistor pack?

Does your car have air con? ( I have never worked on one with air con so not a clue what is where)

This is the air con diagram from vagcat

Vagcat says the series resistor is part no. 20 in the diagram above.

Yep, my car has aircon (not climate control though) and the the vagcat picture you posted reflects the layout in my car. I can't see the resistor pack on this diagram though. I thought it might be the one with the white connectors, but in this case I have the incorrect resistor pack. The resistor pack I bought has part no 893 959 263. Thanks for your help.

893959263 (no. 8 in the, first, non air con diagram) is the non air con series resistor.

8A0959263B (no. 20 in the, second, air con diagram) is the air con series resistor

(according to vag cat, somebody with etka will be able to confirm the part no.s

Thanks chaps, I suspected it was that one, so I really do have the wrong part in this case. I finally found the diagram in the body section of ETKA and can see that the part number is 8a0 959 263B. I was looking in the electrics section of ETKA this morning and just couldn't find it. Does anyone have a spare one?

It's got your name on it mate.

Not the same part no as you've quoted above though, have you checked your actual part? Should be easy to get out, just one philips screw.
