Help with fault code please

Hello. Tried to start my S2 yesterday but the battery was flat even though it had been on trickle charge, I think I may have left the radio on last time I was out in it 2 weeks ago.

Anyway put the battery on charge with my proper battery charger. Checked it today and says fully charged and just tried a friends battery tester on it and says fully charged.

Tried to start it just now and its not happening. Turns over a couple times then dies (sounds weak). Then my alarm chirps and then goes off!

I pulled the codes with vagcom and got 01176 sporadic- signal too low.

My question is, do I need a new battery or is there something else wrong as it would appear my battery is fully charged.

It's a black Varta about 4 years old and been on trickle charge for about 2 years

Almost certainly a bad battery. A lot of chargers will show a full charge on a knackered battery but voltage drops when you try and pull current from it.

To be sure, disconnect battery neg terminal, charge overnight, disconnect charger, leave for 30mins and then measure voltage with a digital volt meter, it should be 13.3 - 13.5v. If the voltage is less than 12.5v replace the battery.

Bosche Silver are good. I edited my post above with more accurate voltage figures.
