Many thanks. That helps a lot. I'll check that

So cables from the connector end in that plug and from there it connects to the dash?

From the G22 link I provided. Leaves the G22, passes through the T10 on pin 8 and ends up at the instrument cluster at T26/20.

Ok as my car is slightly different not being original, the plug sits in a different position. The T10/5 also is completely black and not the blue/black

Traced the brown/red cable. The plug on the sensor and as far as I could trace to the engine cable tree seems ok. Checked the plug and joints all seem ok. I also noticed the white/blue cable as far as it enters the cabin cable tree and it seems fine.

The klima tonic 17 does not read the speed either and neither does vems.

So my assumption is that either the new sensor is faulty, or the magnetic ring is faulty (just ordered one from ecs) or there is some sort of cable issue between the sensor and the black plug. As the signal never reaches the ecu I plan to ask the garage to try another sensor and the ring then try bypassing the internal cables and reaching the T10 plug externally to see of it fixes the issue. Maybe that is cheaper to try before removing the shaft for the magnetic ring.

          An update on this.

I have just been informed by the garage that a different make sensor that I provided now works and reads the speed. So the mayle one I bought from ebay will be returned as it had 2 years warranty as well.

Am I right to assume that the speed sensor I replaced may be duff?

This works but the best way to test is to connect a voltmeter to the line between the speed sensor and the instrument cluster - choose any of the connectors along the way and use a needle or similar to connect to the line without breaking it.

If all is well between the sensor and the speedo you will see a signal that varies between o and 5 volts as you move the car (or turn one of the front wheels).

This is the best test because in one go you are testing that 5 volts comes from the speedo head and that the sensor in the gearbox can switch that 5 volts to ground and that there isn't a break in the wiring in between.

Good info to be on the forum. Very rare to have bought a completely new part and not work from the box. But it had to happen

After installing the new central pump the engine works fine. i now need to program my key back in the system anyone knows how it works?
A new problem is now there, my windows and sunroof would not open.
when i turn on the contact or i push on the switch on the door there is no "click" in the double relay.
I measured 12v on the pin 30 on the relay. could it be the relay, the thermal fuse or something else?
i also looking for someone to repair my speedo. sending to anywhere.

                  regards,

I can repair the speedo! Check the pin 30 with a light bulb main/dip so s 50w at least. Is most likely to have the thermal fuse defective . If not open the relay and resolder the joints between pins and pRinted circuit board.

again, same as speedo, those double size relays are very prone to failure - cold joints. Resolder it and it should solve the problem.

so i took the thermal fuse of and change it a minut by a 30 ampere but no difference, then i opend the relay. almost new by inside. Not One solder on the first vieuw that is broken or bad.I put it in the holder with no plastic and push on the first spool manually. then everything works. Is it possible i have to look on a different place?
