i thought it was the battery so i charged it all day. then i hooked up some jump start cables and let both cars run but still 9v on the dash voltmeter. when i let the battery charge and hook it up again and start i measture 12.4 v with my multimeter at the battery terminal. could it be the alternator? i think this is also the cause that my board computer and clock stopped working. the dash is only getting 9v. the car starts just fine. any tips where to check first?
dash volt meter at 9v instead of 12v

Could it be the voltage regulator on the back of the dash? Maybe a bad reg or connection there. On the S2 the reg plugs into the circuit board and is hed in with a bolt. Not sure on the 200. -
The volt meter's input is not regulated by the voltage regulator, otherwise it would not be of much use. (Besides checking if the regulator still works.)
On the 80 and s2 the regulator only feeds the temp and petrol gauges, all the rest is directly fed by the battery or alternator. Not sure about the trip computer though.
Have you checked the starter switch? That would be my first suspect.Comment

Yeah I ment the ignition switch. They break. A lot.
It's the plastic round thing on the back of the ignition switch. You can take it off by undoing the two setscrews, which are usually buried under some sort of loctite.
So you might have to do some digging before you can get to them.

Not the best drawing unfortunately. The part we're talking about is number 1.Comment

Because it's essentially a switch and switches fail. This one in particular. Just check if there is a voltage drop over the ignition switch.
What do you mean with 'rest of my dash'? That the other gauges are working doesn't mean they're getting 12v.Comment
