Yeah the 1TWD or 1TWU is a function of the window relay - not the convenience module. Anyway - trying to focus on B3/B4 first of all but the window wiring on C4 is functionally the same.

Ps - get your point in the auto locking - that is a programmable feature on the later CCMs but with vacuum operated locks I don't if it's feasible. I need hands on a suitable CCM. I must ping my friendly neighbourhood Audi breaker !

To give a little more info
      I am using an 8A0 862 257 pump and wiring loom from a 1997 C4 avant.
I have pretty much done away with the existing central locking and interior light wiring and used a combination of A6/100 and A8 wiring diagrams to get the required functions needed, as detailed on the excel spreadsheet.
So far all appears to work ok, as far as I can test with the car not being roadworthy.
As Dave had pointed out earlier, the 1997 C4 doesn't have a separate window/sunroof control module, rather the control module is built into the individual window motors (or something like that). The pump has a +12 wire which is activated after about 2 secs holding the key or remote, which goes to either one of two wires to enable windows up or down.

Paul, I am happy to send you the pump and loom, with a door lock and key and window switch, I may even have a spare motor lying about. Or I am happy to wire in your box and test it this end.

It's probably best you send all that lot to me for proper investigation along with the coupe window motor if possible so I can bench the whole lot and test the window interface. We could spend talking past each other otherwise and not getting very far. I need to check if the CWA can work as is or if it needs something else added.

Send me a PM if that works for you and I will get you a postal address etc.

Are you sure about 8A0862257? I can't find any parts history for a 8A0862257. However, I did find that a 8L0862257 was used until 31/12/1998 when it was dropped in favour of a 8L0862257G.

I had previously stumbled upon what seemed to be a change for the 1997 model year, i.e. instead of the typical C4 "4A0" start for the PN, it was "8L0" (as in the start for A8, etc parts) (8L0862257G to be specific). That PN is described as "pump with control module for vehicles with radio controlled central locking system for vehicles with anti-theft alarm and immobilizer". I was nodding yes until the last word, "immobiliser". I didn't think any NAmerican C4s had immobilisers but now I am not sure. I couldn't find the 8L0862257G for the NAmerican market, but I did find 8L0862257N, with the same description.

Brad L. (Greenmachine) recently emailed me with the photo below of a 8L0862257B central locking module out of an 10/96 build US spec 1997 C4 A6 quattro. The photo clearly shows the two vacuum/pressure ports that allow only certain doors, etc. to be opened and the different connectors to allow this, i.e. T10, T12 and T16. For those that haven't lost the plot, the 8L0862257B was apparently replaced on 01/05/1999 by the 8L0862257N. Oops, full circle again (REFERENCE: http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4s6/msgs/284000.phtml)

How did you graft this in? I know there's a conversion harness from Audi to make the newer pump work on a very select group of older cars (B3/coupe?)
