Weird electrical fault!

This is a strange one

Went down the local farm shop yesterday.
I was only in there a minute and didn't switch off the radio or lock the car. As I came out the shop I saw the rear wiper sweep across. I thought for a moment I must have left the key in the ignition but no, keys were in my pocket..

I got in the car and tried turning the ignition on and off, no change, noticed the heater fan was running too. Then I tried turning the radio off and the heater fan went off, rear wiper went off too!

Got back and had a wiggle in the fuse box, pulling the relief relay out definitely stops the fan and wiper.

What's going on? It seems the radio is holding the relief relay on somehow [emoji848]

Could it be the ignition switch breaking down?

I'm also wondering if the two 12v feeds to the radio are reversed or something in the radio loom is messed up or shorted ..

Or... has the fusebox got damp at all? (Hope not as this is a horrible job to change)

Sounds like ignition switch I am afraid....

Possibly fuse box, but damp in there normally would stop things working, not create extra paths for pixies to dance down.

Have you checked out the wiring to/ from the tailgate? Maybe a positive shorted out to an earth?

The radio powers the heater fan up as well though, not just the wiper.

Could be right, Still don't understand, how the radio can be switching the aux relay on [emoji848]
