Interior Light Problems

Thanks guys, I will look for those numbers.
Sidspud, is that the part diag for a 3B or an ABY, if you look at my relay carrier pic above, the multi connectors are at the left end and also below the relays, in the diag they are to the right as they are in the diag on S2 central.

I'm wondering if someone has had this thing apart and jumbled the whole lot up...

The double size relay in MY positions 5 and 6 is the electric window controller relay.

I picked a 1991 Coupe Quattro, although it looks remarkably similar to the 1994 Coupe Quattro diagram.

The picture on the parts program is very 'generic' !! IE if you look at any 89> Coupe, 87>96 Audi 80, 92 on Cab, 88 onwards 90, S2 Avant, RS2, you'll see the sme picture for every single car!! you cannot trust the Ekta parts diagram on these relays, it is NOT exactly how your car will be!! Starters, the diagram will be for LHD not RHD!!

I'm looking at those other relays in your picture to see if I can spot 'the one'

The one at the back top left 443 927 826, thats your ABS relay. That position is relay position number 1

ar ha!!! you have a blank position for relay number 2, BUT next to it, the relay with 305 on it, that should be the interior light relay!! in position number 3 :-)

Position number 2 is for a buzzer relay, which could be a radio on buzzer with keys out, an oil pressure buzzer, or lights on buzzer. Don't worry about that one. No relay in thee could be right.

I carn't make out that other relay with 292 on it, the part number is just too small. Even when I blow the picture up, I juat cannot make it out...

The picture of teh whole area looks quite like my ABY, but I've got another relay plate under relay number 292?? I see scotch locks in that picture too, wonder what they do??

Actually... is there another relay to the left of the relay with the fuse on it? if there is, that would shift the whole relay positions left by one, so the empty place would be number 3, where the interior relay should be! thus making the other electro clucth relay in the correct number 4 position!! and your interior light relay... missing!! can you see with a mirror and torch, if that relay position is wired? and if so, co you see if the female pins in the position look like something has been in them...?? you know what I'm thinking!!

There is no relay position to the left of the one with the fuse (ABS?) So I think thats no1
There is no socket in position 2 just a hole, but..
292 is the buzzer (lights on door open) and it works.
Relay 320 in position 4 is the 447 947 115D! There are only 3 wires going to the back of this socket, but loads going to the socket in posn3, I'll have to get some help with the wire colours though as I'm RGB

With 320 back in posn 4 with no lid on and closing manually, still no lights.

The scotchlocks are from a dodgy alarm install, I left them on to cover up the nicks in the insulation...

I think it must be worth swapping the int. light relay with another from a known working S2, just in case more than the contact being closed is required to make this function...

My thoughts exactly, I just want to be sure its in the right hole in case I blow up another one..

did you get your int lights sorted yet iv got the same problem rely anoying il have alook at my relays tomorow and see if i can shed any lighy on it

No, not sorted yet, other things have taken over, but still need to find out if the relays are in the right places, all input gratefully received.
