Hi being an amateur i was wondering if the diverter valve and the dump valve are the same thing? I going to get my diverter valve changed finally as reccomended by mihnea when he done my remapp.

Technically no - they both perform the same function i.e. to release boost to keep the turbo from stalling when you get off the throttle, but a dump valve dumps the excess boost to air and a diverter valve back into the system. In reality many people refer to a diverter valve as a dump valve or DV. I prefer TBV (Throttle Bypass Valve)

Don't use a dump valve - it confuses the ECU.

          Spoke to Forge again today.
Another guy this time and he confirmed that as long as I wasn't getting excessive lag the yellow spring should be fine for 12 psi. The green one being best suited for the modern low pressure turbos on TT's, Golf's etc.

He also said they recommend reversing the orientation of the valve for smoother operation, especially when I said I was getting a little noise when the valve operates.

I reckon I'll try that and see what difference it makes. (call me a Chav, but I quite like a little d-valve noise! )

I spoke to Forge too. They're going to send me a spring tuning kit FOC .

I've got it booked in for a power run today so I'll post the results later.

This is probably why the old DV was making a noise - see how it has distorted vs a brand new valve on the right. I guess this could be where I didn't line it up with the hose properly when I fitted it ?

Bringing up this 1year old thread...
found my previous DV with part number: 034 145 710A against the new one which the RS2 has and it is : 034 145 710B. Besides being the previous one for some time on the car,it makes the noise i want, which is that nice S1 sound, only less noisy which is also good.At least it can be heard with windows closed.

However since i am in the market for a new one i have these options:
                1) try the 034 145 710A new one

                2) try to get the 035 145 710 from the Sport Quattro S1 (have no idea how it will sound and if it will sound as the S1 as that was a monster)

                3) get a forge 007 one.

                what do you suggest?

                cheers

talked to audi recently and they have no dump valve by the part number of the sport quattro,so therefore it is difficult to obtain that dump valve.
My new OEM dump valve soon developed that look that pete posts and still makes no noise while in use.

Im thinking of buying a forge dump valve but what spring should i order with it?Im running at 1,5-1,7bar over on my RS2.

                      cheers

why did they say that Vas? i've just bought a 007 and i must admit, it is huuuge! i know the 006 is smaller and i'm now wondering whether i should have got that instead. will the 007 not operate properly unless linked to big turbo application maybe?

That's not a recirculating BOV? Thought they were no good for our cars?

                                Why not?
IMHO It's only important that is two piston BOV as we have MAF.
