    Boost Issues

Guys, Just got my quatt back from having a new distributor etc. fitted.
Now find that the car wont boost beyond 0.4 kg/cm2 (6 psi).
It was fine when it went it, boosting upto 0.85/0.9 kg/cm2 (12 psi).

All that has been done is the new dist., vac hose (to fuel press. regulator) and a turbo pump switch.

Looked closely at the new vac hose as well as the others, checked all jubilee clips are tight etc. Can't find anything obvious. Car drives nicely, torquey low down but just minimal turbo boost at higher revs.

Before I have words with them concerned on Monday, does this sound like a boost leak (can't hear any air noises) or some electrical protection coming in do you reckon?
Or something else to do with the new dizzy. maybe?.

Could it be that the WGFV is disconnected?

Has the distributor been aligned properly, or à la "as most mechanics think ok should be", which is defo not ok?

Definitely dizzy alignment - has to be spot on. Unless they have fiddled with other stuff, they shouldn't have.

Seen this plenty of times - at least they never put a steel tube as a spacer in the wastegate to compensate - seen that done!

          Ta for the replies fella's.
Yep WGFV is def. connected, and I think (hope!) they aligned the dizzy up correctly as they certainly know these engine's well. Will not be impressed if it is misaligned!

The punch at low revs seems to make me feel its not a timing issue, though I could be wrong.
It feels quick low down and I can feel boost just starting to swell nicely, until it hits 6 psi (which it will hold if I keep my foot down) and then there's no more.

Is fitting/setting up dizzys and other mech. work on MRC's agenda when fully up and running?

Sure is although I am sure you can take the cap off and check yourself - I am sure there are pictures on the forum somewhere of the alignment marks.
