    [sales pitch]

I'd go for a remap! Every remap we have done on a stock car has been significantly different. You also get the car checked out to make sure it is running ok ( 75% of cars we have done are not - even after being serviced by expensive "specialists" )

    [/sales pitch]

    Of course I am biased

Hi Jamie i would go for a remapp although i have read many good reviews for the homefry. I have had a remapp done by Doug and Mihnea and its completely transformed the car. The reason i went for a remapp over the homefry was because i wanted the peace of mind that it would be checked over first so it was not going to go bang the first time i floored it. I would highly reccomend the remapp. Also though Km at QST has done a brilliant job on my brothers car it beats mine hands down but that may well have something to do with the rs2 turbo he has in it . Anyway good luck mate

I'm very much a victim of the said "Specialist"!!! And I wish I'd gone to MRC in the first place, it would have saved me a lot of cash! I really can't fault Doug and Mihnea, they're both top chaps and know their stuff! Do yourself a favour and get it done properly from the start.

As has been pointed out, there are a variety of opinions about the various companies/people who will perform various upgrades (ECU, brakes, exhausts, etc, etc) on our fine cars.

Mine has the MTM chip installed (by QST), which has given me no problems at all, and produced a very smile-inducing difference. At the same time, since like you price wasn't the only criteria (having everything done in one place at one time was important), the brakes were upgraded to the Mov'it units too. Can't fault those either - on road or track.

It is true you can get it all done cheaper - there's no real doubt about that. I quite happily admit I'm not a mechanic, and have no screaming desire to become one, so was always going to end up paying someone to do the work for me, rather than doing it myself.

As a complete side note, if you can afford it (time, price, etc) I would strongly recommend getting your car dyno'd before and after any mods, so you can see how effective they have been. This may also help point out if the car is underperforming and needs work before starting on the upgrades.

Beyond using their services/parts, NCT any company mentioned above.

          Ck.

In my opinion, if you've got a set budget, go for the homefry AND get a brake upgrade. In fact I'd get the brake upgrade first then get the homefry so that the car is better suited to the significant increase in performance.

              £750 would get both.
I'd agree with this, standard brakes are poo and if you want the extra power its always good to know that when you need to stop there is something down there that is well up to the job!
The Porsche upgrade is much better, not to mention the fact it looks more impressive with big red calipers under your wheels

Incidently, my car has a generic chip from MRC and the gains are excellent!! More power when giving it some beans, but i still make an average of 32mpg according to the computer when cruising on the motorway at sensible speeds.
