    Multifunction sensor

Is it ok to run with this disconnected? Obviously I will have no reading on the temp guage and will have to keep an eye on the water level. I'm pretty sure the car is running better with it disconnected and I don't really want to reconnect before the new one arrives. It seems to miss and run rich with it connected?

I'm talking about the sensor on the water manifold, below the IM? I know it sends the signal to the temp guage, what is its other function? Does it switch the radiator fan on too?

Not rad fan, but overheat signal to A/C and ECU on 3B cars.

Thanks porkkis, coincidentally, this afternoon I had some steam from under the bonnet, the water was boiling, whilst the car was ticking over parked up, as soon as I drove off it cooled down so I'm guessing the fan or fan switch has gone.

I still have the multi sensor disconnected, as you know its not the sort of thing you want to try and reconnect with a red hot engine, so I was wondering if that was the cause..
