I think i broke my car, revved it quiet hard pulling away on a dual carriageway and now i think its in limp home mode. In second it revs up to about 4k but won't go over 45 - 55mph in any gear, and feels real jerky. Any ideas? can't get my blink codes to work so thats out but have reset ecu and checked the "engine" fuses. Any thing else i can check? What hose's do i need to check for boost leakage? any input would be good as garage can't fit it in for a week!!!
i would remove and visually check all turbo hoses, the turbo inlet pipe often gets very brittle with age, also check the air temp sender on the top of the inlet manifold, you should find a thread on here regarding how to test it,
hi
it sound like a fuel problem or it could be the air mass meter. one of them 2. if it was the booost pipes it cut out or it run lumpy. check the fuel filter and injecters. try some fuel clean addtives it may do the trick.
Which hoses are they? i can see quite a few different hoses some come from the top of the turbo and seem to go to the WGFV (i think) any pics?
am servicing my car at the end of the week so will do the fuel filter then..
also seems like a can hear a strange wooshing under heavy boost load that i haven't heard before, as normal yoy just hear the turbo whirr as it spins but this is a heavy wooshing but only at full accelaration, and combined with that, it smokes heavy from the exhaust.
But only get the wooshing and smoke under heavy load (i.e. acceleration)..
Will check all the above but i really think i have just broke a hose when i canned it.
sounds to me like you have a boost leak, check the hoses/clips one has probably blown or split causing the lumpy drive. Also check the wgfv too (follow the small hose off the turbo inlet pipe, should be floating about with three small diameter pipes coming off it) Where are u based, maybe a local member can help you check it over?
You deff have a boost leak, I would say, somewhere between the Turbo and the Throttle body, air thats been metered by the MAF is escaping and the motor runs really rich like the choke is pulled out (if you had one haha), the Lamda can't compensate.. check turbo to IC, IC to IM (round the back in the michelin man ripples usually) and throttle body hose as the most likely, then all the little hoses, good luck. A pressure test will find it right away. Where are you? I'm sure someone near you will have a test kit.
Taking the light off helps access to the hoses, but its not essential. Its not that hard to take them off and reassemble - just a bit fiddly.
Get yourself a set of Samcos and just replace the lot. Makes life much easier!
Sounds like a plan, are these specialized Audi hose's that i need to mail order and wait a week for? or can i pick them up from anywhere and cut them to size?
Would this lack of speed/power be a result of this leakage?
Basically would a boost leak put the car in "limp home mode" as i'm pretty sure i'm in that from reading other threads.
Hi all, need help in identifying the turbo hoses, obviously they run from turbo to intercooler then into engine but having a look at the samco parts for the S2 Paul has advertised on E-bay there appears to be 6 seperate hoses..
any help finding these would be useful as going to have a look see after work...
T
P.S would buy a full replacement samco set but not in the mood for spending £200 odd on some hoses want to sort out brakes and a service first... then make the engine bay look nice...
