The head will be stripped as the cam needs to swapping into the ADU head.
I'll ask him tonight if we can chop it. Pictures of the head will be on here very soon.
I'll try to get it in here (work) and take some measurements of it for reference before it gets the chop.

Bry it would be useful if you get the chance to remove one of the exhaust valves in the damaged port and get close up pics of the area around the guide, looking through the seat and through the port.
I have a couple of cylinder heads that I can take comparison pics of, and that may help show how much material was removed.
Mark.
P.S. if there is a lot of carbon build up in the port, see if Johnny has any Fairy Power Spray in his kitchen. LOL honestly it cleans Cylinder carbon off of cylinder heads in about 10-15 minutes....that should clean it up for a good pic.
LOL never tried it, I try to keep out of the kitchen, unless I am nicking the the power spray or curing painted engine bits in the oven!
I do use an old toothbrush to clean up inside the ports though.
My 3B head had a crack in #3 exhaust port. I was advised by Ultraseal that poor alloy quality, porosity, etc is common in the 5cyl heads they treat. The ultraseal process didn't cure the problem with the head, so I resorted to having it welded. This has lasted ok so far, running high boost with an RS2 setup. The crack in my head was invisible to the eye, however, under pressure water was making it's way into the port.
There will be a pic of it somewhere on the forum, can't find a copy on my own PC

What Steve said. For what its worth, I had the same problem on my ADU head. Mine had 2 cracks the same, that showed up under pressure pressure testing. Had it repaired by welding, them. Had no problems with it once it was done, and that was running ~358 bhp......
My car is about the same spec as Johnny's but no head work, I've had boost spikes too, every now and then when you floor it at 3500rpm or so the gauge will go round to the stop (2 Bar max deflection and blow me does it shift when this happens) I always back off if I feel it happen although sometimes it will produce an overboost shut down from the ECU, this behaviour will re-occur irregularly untill the WGFV is cleaned. Then it seems to be OK for a while, maybe a few months. This is my current take on it, its very hard to track as its so unpredictable. I've had no issues with anything breaking though, or problems with the head, so far. I would expect conrods to be the first to go if the spike was serious.
10 valve heads are prone to cracking between the valves, especially if fitted with bigger ones, I've had 2 go on me
Mark, That's one of the pics. There was a close-up that showed just the port in question. I wouldn't have known there was a crack if it wasn't for some strange marks I noticed on the bore of #3 cylinder. Coolant had been leaking from the port into the cylinder and had eventually marked the cylinder wall. This must have been happening for some time before I noticed it when the head came off.
theres a pic of cracked port on a 20v head on the qep(catcams agent) site too
this a common problem then??
