    Greg,

I cut the bottom of the pod at an angle to make it fit better, and the foam was there to tidy it up a bit and also to stop it creaking/rattling.

          Greg,

thats a good place for the thermocouple, did you drill and tap the manifold?.

make sure it's not going to touch the metal work inside the manifold.

Are you sleeving the wires to the thermocouple to protect them a bit - if it's near hot bits

              Looking good though

Phoned up SPA and they reckoned it should be able to take a fair amount of heat, Decided im going to make a new bracket to hold the thermocouple again so will try sort something out. Its extremely fiddly trying to put the plug back on in the engine bay with all the tiny parts in that plug.

Yeah while had it on the bench drilled a 9mm hole after a pilot then tapped the 1/8th BSP thread and put some thread lock on when it all went it.

Checked to see if will touch metal work and its got a good amount of clearance and dont think the exhaust gas will move it much if at all but it connects onto the metal where it goes thru the connector thru the manifold anyhow.

Yeah that was before had given the engine a waah waah.

Just went round and checked everythign tightened again and started her up, much to my relief very nicely.

Just trying to double check which coolant it has since it lost some while doing stuff to it.

                      Anyone know?

Cant see very well in that pic but at night the colours look almost identical too, compared to standard instruments

If you get a boost guage, how to you connect it up? What does it connect to? Excuse my ignorance! Could a monkey like me wire one up?

Stereo lithography (going back to an earlier post) is completely cool, I've seen it in action. It's used extensively in F1 for aerodynamics prototypes - the aero designer CADs up a part in the morning, it gets lithographed overnight, then they slam it on a model in the wind tunnel the next day. The cool thing about it as well is that they can design in all the channels for sensor electronics etc from the start. It's wonderfully sophisticated - kind of reminds me of the "replicators" in Star Trek...

You should see the amount of scrapped lithographed aero parts that an F1 team produces these days, then consider the cost, then you realise why it's such an insanely expensive "sport"...

fitting a gauge is dead easy if its a normal analogue one, take a T off the line to the ECU and run the tee to the back of the boost gauge with some vacuum pump and put some clips on the pipe to hold it on with.

The one i have fitted is slightly different because it has an EGT built into it also and uses electronic transducers.

So you have the power feed for the gauge, a switch to program it, and two multicore leads that connector to the sensors in the enginebay. Drilled and tapped the boost sensor into the IM and the EGT thermocouple into the exhaust manifold pre turbine. and put the K type transducer box down near the air box and ran the wires around edge of bulkhead and thru a rubber grommet.
