Angus, this problem that you are experiencing has nothing to do with cleaning your injectors. Check out your knock sensorOriginally posted by AAH!There may be a fly in the ointment about getting your injectors cleaned.
Having had a good motorway thrash over the weekend and have the opportubity for the first time to check the results of cleaned injectors, I noticed improvements to throttle response and smoothness, BUT I have found that I am getting occasional boost retard.
Most of the time I get full boost as normal maxing at 1.9 bar, then for no apparent reason the for next few times I put my foot down max boost is down to 1bar. Then back to normal again. Occasionaly when the boost is holding back at 1 bar, if I let the revs get up to about 5500rpm the boost will kick in again, but not always.
The only blink/fault code I am getting is • 2142 - Knock sensor #1 - Open or short circuit, Defective sensor Check sensor and wiring Symptom: Timing retarded, High fuel consumption, power loss, Boost pressure not attained.
It may be a faulty knock sensor, which I will investigate but it seems a bit too much like coincidence for it to fail at around the same time as I get my injectors cleaned.
I was hoping that this may be the ecu relearning the adaptive fuel mixtures, but I have done at least 100 miles so it should have sorted it self out by know if it was that.
I am guessing, although I'm not sure, that this may be due to the fact that my injectors are pumping out approx 3% less fuel than before (see early post above for the reason) and that as the car was remapped to the "dirty" injectors higher flow rates and as a result, the car is running lean and I might be getting a bit of detonation which is being picked up by the knock sensor and making the ecu retard the boost.
So anyone with a remapped car planning to get your injectors cleaned, hold off for the time being. I would imagine if your car is stock it wouldn't be a problem.
Doug/Mihnea, waddya reakon? Do you need to adjust the map ?

Good luck Angus. IIRC I moved the front radiator and the hydraulic pump to one side. The offending knock sensor was in behind there, somewhere. HTHSSComment

Thanks, I think I'll start at the with the other one first as it is easier to get at and it is also the one the fault code pointed too. Doug suggested checking the connectors as I might have disturbed something when I was faffing around with the POS's.formally RS2 +Comment

Very similar symptoms to my car when the knocks sensors went.
If you flip the ignition off and then on again whilst you are moving immediately after a situation where you only get a fraction of the boost you expect, does the car boost normally again?
If so, its the knock sensors. I had the same fault codes. One blue one, one green one. Bitch to get at.
I normally get 17psi on overboost. It would limit me to 8psi. Flip the ignition off and on again, straight back to 17psi.
I'd hazard a guess yours does the same.
Or else, like Doug says, you've disturbed something.00 Audi B5 S4 MRC550

Update
After jumping to conclusions about the newly cleaned injectors lower flow rates and the ecu not being able to adapt , it was indeed, as everyone suggested, a dodgy knock sensor.
At some point in the past someone (not me) had obviously pulled the wires out of the terminals and done a poor soldering job trying to put it back together and with all my fiddleing around with the POS's I must have disturbed something. At least I didn't have to change the actual knock sensors.
So some new connector terminals from vag parts, a bit of splicing and some heat shrink cable connectors, job done. A nice cheap and quick fix for a change and full boost is back and the car is now running as it should be and in fact with the new coil packs and clean injectors better than ever..... for the moment anyway. I haven't done a long run yet but so far so good.
S2 Forum to the rescue again, thanks for the help guys... Angus

Now i can,t start car without turning it over to fuel pressure comes up in injectors
the bosch service dealer said they did,nt leak when they tested them ??? must be something alse
if i remove fuel reg it pops out with no fuel pressure behind it, surpose leaking injectors & now idle rought , will see monday when i take them out again , what a pain

Is this GB going ahead? As I would also be interested in this as I am less than an hour away.Originally posted by Audi Parts GuruIf anyone is interested then I may be able to organise a group buy so to speak as I know the guys at Asnu very well. I may be able to arrange a demonstration too

I'll need at least 4 people who want their injectors cleaning for this to work. So far I have 2 people that have shown an interest.Originally posted by HPmuirtIs this GB going ahead? As I would also be interested in this as I am less than an hour away.

Assuming that I can get 4 then I will be looking at the last saturday in October hopefully

Just had mine cleaned on Wednesday at ANSU by Roger. He was very
informative and let me spectate during the process. I'm well pleased
and i've noticed improved responce, better start up, Idling and more torque
It's a must have. Flow was OK and even but spray pattern was
bad. I was definately having "Bore wash"
One thing that came to my attention was that we all spend alot of
time chasing boost leaks, but we never really examine the little rubber
seals that holds the injectors into the Inlet manifold. they are almost
as bad as the IC o-ring. Thanks alot Angus.RS2 MTMComment
