Tried other bits and its still crap

Today an S2 came to the workshop and I asked the owner if I could borrow some bits to try!! Fancy the chances of that are slim i thought, but the owner said thats fine!!

    tried his ECU, no change
    tried his MAF, no change
    tried another coil, no change

    back to the drawing board.

I am gonna seal off the dump valve to see if boost if leaking past this, but i have tried two different ones and the prob was still there.

Its black smoking like hell when the pedal is pushed, followed it with my dad driving today. Proper *******.

    Tom,

I know I'm probably not much help but it sounds (to me) with the black smoke, like a BIG boost leak or a fuelling problem, I can't remember if you have tried testing the system or not for leaks, I know Doug did it like this:

If its not a leak or your MAF what else can effect the fuelling under load

Hopefully it will turn out to be the DV?

    Mark.

        I feel like a complete tw@!!!

I pulled the whole front end apart today in search of a problem. I bypassed the WGFV by running straight to the wastegate. Still had the problem.

So then i thought, right time to pressure test the lot. So i fitted into the system a tyre valve. stuck the inflater onto it and pumped away. After spraying loads of leak detection spray around i could see the prob. The accordian sytle hose has a split about 1" long in it underneath one of the rings. I had check this hose and cos it was new never really looked that hard. Must have missed it!!

I bought a new one in Feb this year, so my local dealer will be having a phone call in the morning. All parts carry a 2year warranty, parts and labour. But i just want the part!! I think they may whinge if they saw the car setup!

Sorry to have racked so many of your brains. Im going to the pub to drown myself in beer.

When you said about it being rich I felt sure it was a leak.. I replaced my IC to Inlet hose with a piece of reinforced silicon rubber tube, stretchy enough to work for the 2 different diameters.

Glad you found the problem at last, no need to torch it now

Yeah i know i said it wasn't a boost leak!! Only reasoning i have is that the hose is not very old, so i never looked at it hard, plus the fact that the last time it went it gave fault codes. Which it never has this time?? Weird.
