Problems while testing for boost leak, help!

    Well,

I got the bong set from lee and i stuck the bong in the maf hose, one to block of by the throttle body and one where the PVC system enters the Maf hose.

But when i applied pressure, it cant even hold 1 bar of pressure. It is leaking like hell, strangely enough since i can drive and get 1.3 bar off boost. But is there some where i should block off cuz it seems the air just escapes?

Leaking wastegate stem? (a little leak here is ok AFAIK) Try blocking the 8mm hose to the WG.

Dont think so, but will have to take the front bumper off and try to see if i can hear where air is escaping.

Just seems stupid if i need to block something else off

The system won't hold any pressure if you have a leak. If you have a large leak the air escapes almost as fast as you pump it in, BTDT.

Jonas - you *must* block the 8mm hose where it enters the wastegate when pressure testing. Otherwise, air pressurising in the turbo-output hose routes thru the WGFV (in its off postion) to the wastegate (WG).

The WG cannot hold boost indefinitely like that. Block that hose - I find a 1/4 inch socket extension bar (or a screwdriver) works great !
