I came to start my beloved S2 tonight and it won't fire. I turn the key, it turns over, but then nothing. It worked fine this afternoon on my way to (and from) a car wash. Can this be the cause? My oil light also comes. It was low, but I've topped it up and it still comes on . Is there anything I can check tonight, as I really need it in the morning?
first off i would check for a spark, and also see if you have fuel pressure at the fuel rail,if you have fuel pressure this will rule out fuel pump failure,i think it may be on its original pump....

This may be a stupid question, but... how do I do that?
pull out one of the ht leads from the head and crank the engine over to see if there is a spark,to check for fuel pressure slacken the banjo fitting on the fuel rail and crank the engine over,if fuel spurts out you have a working pump,be careful though as its under fairly high pressure, dont check both simeltaneously though or you might have an early bonfire night....
i had this problem 2 weeks ago it turned out to be the fuel pump fine the night before next morning nothing i also had the oil warning light come on if you need one try sal he got me one in a day

No spark. Looks like it will be off to Banbury tomorrow to leave it with Doug to find the cause. Hopefully it won't be an expensive fix, so that I can burn my plastic on a mod or two whilst it's there.
This could be a possibility. I was trying to find a switched live on the ISO connector on Monday, but I found out from the forum that there isn't one. Maybe it is just coincidence. It won't start of the Intellistart button either though .
