@gillm: it can't be the ECU, I'd blame that on the remap rather...

The S2 n75 is indeed useful for reaching higher boost (it is reacting slower than the original one, I've BTDT on a few S3s) but on a car that's been remapped it's BS because it puts the ECu into safe mode (fault code: max boost exceeded) on WOT runs in 4th from 2000 RPM on.

Stick with the original one thus, it's been designed to work with your ECU and will put it into safe mode much quicker than with the original one...

I agree. I think its the mapping that is to blame. Is there a limit as to what you can make the ECU see in terms of boost levels? If not then it must be down to the mapping, right? Needs to have the boost chip modded!

I dunno, i just drive the car and let you do the mapping stuff.

thats what makes me think it is the ecu it's self if that makes sense . i know someone who runs a s3 ecu on a ibiza with a larger turbo and it's fine


this only happens on chipped cars . i have a idea boost raised/turbo overspool/safe mode . maybe all tuners are upping the boost too much ? mine is around 16-17 psi .

@Tom: umm, those Motronic ME7.5 systems are a bit more complicated as they don't contain a proper boost map, so you can't just enter "target" values for the boost you want to reach... but they work with some "filling factors" that let the ECU work out itself how it will manage the boost control, but if the "filling factor" is set too high and boost exceeds the maximum allowable value, then it's limp mode for ya. The real problem is that if you (AMD) don't have a clue how these work, then it's very likely such things will happen....

What HP does your engine have in stock form? how much is it rated to chipped?

stock it was 156bhp (@ the flywheel)
chipped with other bits it's 180 bhp (@ the wheels)

and about how much at the crank? anyway, on a 150 HP engine, more than 195 with stock turbo and IC isn't reasonable, the first limit being the turbo....

yep thats going and it is a ko3 at the mo , power with chip at the fly i around 210-215 bhp . intercooler has been changed for a fmic

See gillm, there is more to mapping than meets the eye. This Mihnea chap knows his ****!! If he cant map the ****** then no-one can. I have full trust in him. Im sure that if after Jabbasport have played and its not right,Mihnea will find a way of sorting it out.
