Yup MDC, save cash and get all the parts, then we'll arrange something to get yours remapped properly too! But do the rod bearings/head gasket at the same time, otherwise I can't guarantee any reliability past 300 HP.

Martin (keeper of the kitten) - why don't you come over to see us next weekend - the magician Mihnea will be around - and we can all have a good look at your car - have a look in the meets section under the Rolling Road Sesh.

          Hello again gang!

Whoooaaa! So much to take in and so little time! I'll definitely be looking at some mods in the future.

...but first, I must confess to being a bit of a prat! I looked at some pics of my engine and the wastegate looks like standard S2 (no fancy preload screw after all...) - and the mpg may not have been as bad as I said before, it seems that the 16mpg is banzai driving and I can actually get nearer 20mpg on a decent run ops:

The injectors also look standard but I'll tell more when I see my baby for real.

Doug, I'll check out that meeting date but I can't guarantee to be around, the race car business doesn't offer much spare time... Where and when decides yes or no! If yes, maybe I'll have a broken bumper for you!

Rod bearings and head gasket when I can afford them, then we'll look at some real horsepower mods?!

BTW two more pics of Kitten in my original posting "The Kitten" in Member's cars - check 'em out!

:-) nothing is connected to that pipe. It's only there for testing the wastegate!

Well, it actually has a function:

it bleeds air in and out the chamber when diaphgram (thus gate) opens and closes. If you had closed chamber, pressure inside wouldn't allow the openinig.

It is used for applying pressure to the top of the diaghram to keep the wastegate shut when using some boost controllers, if a small amount of boost is applied then it will take longer/be harder for it to open up. A friend of mine uses an HKS boost contoller on his 911 turbo(same wastegate) and thats how the contoller works.

Thats quite interesting, been reading up on wastegates and upper and lower chambers.

Audi's are quite unique it seems in only using the bottom chamber in comparisson to Jap cars.

I am getting worried Jamo. You seem to be heading towards a scoobaudi. Which I guess will be a first.

nah, we have a dual port wastegate yet it's setup as a single port wastegate with use of the WGFV.

I'm going to experiment with the boost controller for one rainy weekend ( stop the gasps I can here them from here! ) to see if the dual port setup works.

034 sell a very tide tial replacement wastegate for the I5 2ov turbo which would work well with the above setup.
