The idea is that there is a limit to HP on a 3B engine, given a turbo/compression ratio/rods/crank RPM combination, at some point (and somewhere around 400 HP I think) the 3B ignition system can't charge a single coil too quick enough in order to provide a strong enough spark at the cylinders. With 5 coils you have eliminated this problem!

ive aparently got a 3bar map sensor and a chip which has come from germany in my 3b which was fitted by tim cooper who used to work for central vw audi in ellsmerport and he supplied me with a stronger wastegate spring, ive made the the waste gate top adustable, but to be brutally honest don't really no what he has done to it havent tried it yet as car isnt finnished yet im told it should boost to 1.5bar then settle at about 1 - 1.2 but dont understand how it does this, do the coil packs have to be set up with their own chip or will they work with one thats fitted work brain hurting quite alot over this!!!!!!!

I *think* this thread was started in the days when Mihnea was adamant that the HT system on the 3B was a big performance bottleneck. Its ancient history here, but my memory is that it turned out not to be the case when he learnt some new tuning tricj for the 3B. I might be talking nonsense here so forgive me, but I thought Toms car was pushing lots more than 450bhp on the stock ignition system after Mihnea did his thang.

Yeah, it was about 475ish. Could have continued with 3b ign. setup, but i just swapped for ADU setup whilst doing the final transformation.

Its the same with 1.8T coils, if the tuner is capable then they can also support large HP. I was running 2.7bar and over 600bhp with no hint of a misfire, on the new type coils, this was before i sold it back in july
