new ecu or modify old one?

as some of you are aware im intending on putting a 4.2 40v v8 lump in my 90cq
which may also (pennies permitting) have an eaton m90 supercharger

now the problem i have which i cant get my head round at the moment is what to do as regards ecu's

do i use a standard ecu and get it moddifed to read forced induction, and have the headache of having to mess about having it decoded if i dont have one with the key fob

or buy an ecu from someone like 034efi, emerald, dta etc? which would come with a base map to get the engine running then get it remapped to suit on a rolling road

also my rev counter is for a 5 cylinder, i have spoken to dta and they can program the out put of the ecu to read the right rpm on a v6 rev counter so that wouldnt be a problem, where as if i used a motronic ecu this may not be as simple unless of course i fit the clocks out of an A8

    cheers

you will also have to look at changing the injectors and a few other bits if you plan on supercharging it,i did look into this a year or two back,i bought an a8 4.2 quattro sport instead, the 4.2 would be awesome with a supercharger, plenty quick enough as it is though!!

034 will cover everything you would ever need. The also do a plug nd play harness for the V8

I would ditch the supercharger and keep it all standard. I would use all the clocks, keys, ignition ECU etc and plug and play.....

A simplified view I know, but that is the way I would look at it. Then once it is up and running I would *think* about supercharging etc....

          Sounds like fun!

          Good luck

          Cheers,

personally i'd go with the emerarld ecu remap. Jolly good chaps and the results they've had on TVR's speaks for itself.
