Btw here's a few weights you can remove from the 3B Coupé highlighted here. Figures are off the top of my head.
    Carbon canister - 1.4 kg.
    Aux radiator - 3 kg.
Headlight washer bottle - 7 kg.

How to remove Headlight washer bottle ?? do we have to take the wing out or just the inner plastic wing will do ?

Cheers, and u forgot , get rid of the spare wheel !

IMHO theres no way you'd get a coupe shell anywhere near a ton... the shell is made of heavy gauge steel for starters.
I would say you might get close to 1250kg by getting rid of every last scrap of trim, binning the ABS, secondary rad, carbon cannister, brake bomb, getting an alloy rad and making an alloy fuel tank, getting composite bonnet, wings and doors and roof and using the lightest wheels, alloy calipers, drilling some speed holes etc etc.

I know this isnt alot of use to the type89 boys but i'm compiling all type85 weights and getting my UR down to the 1000-1050kg mark hopefully.
Some may be transferable or give a good idea to the s2 weights....
Will be weighing the bare shell once its prepped for cage then doing post cage weights etc.

I heard from an Audi breaker that the facelift cars have a lot of reinforcement in the shells, not sure if that's different to the pre-facelift? Quoted weights are about 1250 for a 7A pre-FL and nearly 1400 for a FL V6.

If you look on ETKA you can see the reinforcements that were added to the body for the S2 and in some cases the V6. Along with the gearbox, air con, etc it explains why the 7A coupes are much lighter. If you want a light shell, start with a pre-facelift coupe.

Yup, that makes sense. Your 'ring times vs. mine show that a well setup & well driven NA car is as fast as a turbo at 7/10ths. The power to weight is not as bad as the 170bhp vs. 300bhp would indicate. RE2500's car will be a serious weapon.

Yep, it certainly is. The two of us will be at Bedford on May 11th so we'll find out!
