Well, swapped in S2Driver's MAF and still the same, so I'm pleased to have eliminated dodgy MAF as the cause of my problem - so it's our good old friend the "boost leak"! Now comes the fun part of tracking it down...Ex S2 owner, now running around in an A4 Avant quattro...Comment

yep always rude not to fill up with some 99ron....lucky I had my brembos on tonight though cos at a little north of the national speed limit, an old guy driving an alfa decided to pull out into the middle lane and i just managed to avoid him and scrub about 50mph off VERY quickly lol

@Dan, I have VAG-COM if you need to pull some codes. I had the same problem when i bought my car, whoooshing sound and over boost protection. Turned out to be a big hole in my intercooler. I'm off to Germany for a couple of days but will be around possibly at the weekend and next week if you need to pull codes.
