    AAN distributor placement

    Hi,

Maybe someone knows or knows where to find information on AAN "distributor" (hall sensor which reminds distributor by looks) adjustment. I mean I have an engine in the car, and have "distributor" on the desk. If I just put it into the engine it's not starting .

As far I suppose I need to adjust "distributor" with some labels. How ?

    ECU gives code 2113 .

    Sau,

Can you post a pic of the "dizzy" without the cap on. Trying to see whether there are any alignment marks on the outside like a normal 3B dizzy. If there are then I guess the procedure to align a 3B dizzy also applies to the S4. Basically the ECU need to have the hall sender aligned so it sees it at the right time!

Very early AAN engines used basically a distributor without the dizzy cap to house the hall sender as it was not until later that it was mounted on a boss on the cylinder head. Guess they were using up earlier head castings. Thats why I used the quotes. Thats why he having the problem!

You are absolutelly right . That's why I was using quotes. I have my hands on very early 92' AAN. It has distributor but using it only as hall sender. Basically it is 3b/7a unit only gear is different. I've found marks after cleaning some oil from it. I will try to put engine on "0" flywheel mark (not pretty sure what it is) and try to put 7a rotor on it, and align it strictly horizontal pointing to the front of the car . Keep the fingers crossed for me .

          Hope that will work ...

WOW, thats crazy. I have a 92 AAN and it doesn't have a distributor and the Bently doesn't say anything about a distributor.

What car did is come out of? I bet none came to the states like that.

              Sau,

Its difficult without a pic to see how this dizzy is constructed. However on the 3b there are lines on the outer rim of the dizzy and the metal part with the window which need to be aligned with the engine when its on the O mark.
If I position the 3b dizzy with the wiring plug approx in the S4 position(1 O'clock) then the marks are at 7 O'clock! So they are pointing vertically down not horizontally.
Obviously it would help to see if there are any such marks on yours.
I guess it doesen't matter so much where the wiring plug sits as long as the marks are aligned at engine TDC!
              Hope that helps!

Neat idea! . I've always said thad I'm too stupid to keep things simple . Respect for creative thinking . I've used to finish in cases like that with something like sophisticated calibration stand with electronic signal matching and after week of f**king and adjusting damn thing to right position just to find out that there were two labels that just needed to be matched ...

I think if we will find big enough battery we will try what you've said - first.

                        Thanks!

sometimes simple things are over looked and you confuse yourself with all the technical stuff
