Without fault code? Is that possible???

    Hi folks,

A friend of mine have putted out the ECU, form a ADU Engine, than when put it on again, the engine does not start!
    He don´t have spark!

    The painel works OK!

I sad to him, to try to get the fault code.
    So...
He has 12V between the black plug
When the lamp is between the black and the blue plug, and than jump the black and white one on the drivers side!!! as explained on the http://s2central.net/blinkhow.html, the blinkcode don´t cames!!!

    Is that possible???

    Cheers,

Was this done with the ignition ON or OFF ?

Suggest to check all relevant ECU fuses first... but maybe there is a bad connection at critical pins on the ECU connector.

Could this operation have interfered with some kind of immobiliser circuit ?

It was done with the ignition ON.. and all fuses is OK!!!

The imobilizer circuit.. I think it will turn on the lamp on the painel.... but is all OK with imobilizer..

I will say to unplug again the ECU and clean all the electrical pin.. and try again!

        All done... and nothing occurs!!!
The engine still do not start! and we do not have any braighty lamp!

If the problem is on the immobiliser, the lamp on the painel should be on, correct??

Try to get blink codes from ECU. If it will tell you about immobiliser - then it's immobiliser. If it will not respond ... it's very bad feeling inside . BTDT.

I think damage to the ECU is possible if you plug/unplug it with the ignition ON. Agree it could also be immo problem.

As Sau says - if the ECU does not give blink codes then it could be a dead ECU.

But Sau highly recommends to check FUSES, voltage, connector once more .
These ECU's are quite robust, so I suggest check first (with manual), panic later.

                    Solved!!!!!

It was just the Motor Timming 2 fuse!!!

He didn´t know that there were 2 fuses under the red cap!!!

                    So... thanks a lot!!!!

                      Glad to hear that.

NEVER connect/disconnect ECU with ignition ON. Also it's good to disconnect the battery before doing that.

my bentley manual does say that you should leave ignition off for at least 3 or 4 minutes before removing ecu, doesn't say anything about disconnecting battery

                          It's not mandatory.
