Just been to try and shift mine and as always bloody thing won't move - Fumoto for me too. Not too sure exactly how I am going to remove the current one

@Raj - you got one sitting gathering dust then? If so PM me.

Have you let the car get fully up to temp before trying to remove it??

This will soften the seal hopefully.

I gave up and took mine round the corner to a kwik-fit. Bloke got it up on the lift (one thing my garage unfortunately lacks) and was able to get a lot more leverage on it.
Didn't cost me a penny, drove it back home and then did the change.

Once you have got it undone and replace with a new plug and washer and torque to a respectable but not stupid level they are fine IME.

I do still use a 3ft breaker bar though

              cheers,

mmm.. i find when its a bit stiff ... i shock load it ... ie... making sure the spanner is on firmly ... use my legs to assist the first turn.. sometimes with a hard and sharp hit ..

if the spanner is on firmly .. it works ... must make sure it is ... because if u persist in messing it up .. it can round the nut.. or a power tool to just loosen the plug is ideal

Never had a problem with mine, always get the engine hot a hell leave for 5 mins then a ring spanner always works with no levers or extensions, i just hate the fact its at 90 Deg. so you have to move the bowl as the oil pours out.
