I always thought G12 was introduced because it offered better protection for Aluminium than the G11, Plus it does look cooler (parden the pun)

Once again the world of science is required... shame I'm not a scientist.

*Putting his sandles and white coat on*

It's all to do with the Specific Heat Capacity (SHC) of a substance. The SHC is a measure of a materials ability to hold heat energy without changing state (solid to liquid, liquid to gas). From what I remember almost all water based mixes have the same (very nearly to make no difference) SHC thus have the same heat transfer characteristics. Like the Nitrogen in the tires it's another way for some people to remove cash from others for no real world benifit.

*Putting his sandles and white coat away*

Please correct me if I have got this wrong.

my point exactly, and who wants pink water anyway?

          *Ahem*

Specific Heat Capacity (SHC) is the quantity of heat required to raise the temperature of a unit of mass of a substance by a unit change in temperature

What you described is the latent heat capacity this is primary reason for adding coolant (antifreeze!) / addictive to a car system.

Adding coolant changes the latent heat capacity and also modifies the boiling and freezing point of the liquid when using water as the universal solvent so that the system wont freeze and boil when transfering energy via SHC
