It is bull ****, you cant get 300 bhp on stock s2 3b.Originally posted by coupegtso whats the difference between the racing version and "normal" version this guy offers?
Seems like quite alot to promise +81 bhp on a otherwise standard engine.
Which version did you get urquattro-island? and what about the install in the ecu? did you do it yourself?
I do not understand why people buy that crap on ebay, I mean the chip is a very important thing, and it can **** alot up. One does not anything about the work that has been done on these chips.
I dont hope your are considering this Niels? My advise is to get RH to do it or buy a generic chip from Pual og get Mihnea to chip the car. And if you considering getting upgrades likes RS2 manifold and perhaps turbo, I would use RH motorsports since they dont charge more then 70 euro when you come in to get something adjusted or if you add a new turbo.

well
i dont know so mutch about chips and so on, yet. But i am learning and this was a good chip for me.
Anyhow i got my car for free so, I am trying things out on this.
The chip promised +72PS /+146NM, I will dyno test it during fall so, I will let you all know what it does.
Probebly not more then +30bhp I dont know, but i feel the difference and thats fun..

'Since OEM's don't freely distribute source code and calibration instruction's then tuning cannot ever be 100% reliable, however as you said Jamo a good tuner wll be sympathetic to your car and wishes.'
However certain tuners do have extensive access to motronic source code/check sums. Not many but some.
This is the very reason most informed members here avoid 'plug and play' chips of the type above.Alastair

Regards tuning... the OEM 3B for example is in a fairly detuned state as standard because the manufacturer has to take into account every country the cars are sold, this means the likelyhood of the owner using cheap fuel, cheap oil, not sticking to recommended service intervals, meeting emmisions in all these countries and then some for safety, taking into account all the varying temperatures using the standard small intercooler.
Some manufacturers build engines cheaply with little safety margin and uprating the engine on these does reduce its life markedly. The Audi 20Vt however is far far stronger than it needs to be. The crank as standard can handle 700bhp, the rods are safe to 400bhp if the torque delivery is not too viscous, so chipping one of these cars to 280/300bhp is still leaving a very safe margin that has only a small effect on longevity. And do not forget, these cars are now in the hands of enthusiasts, so they are never likely to get cheap oil and will be running exclusively on super unleaded fuel and generally pampered. So its safe to say that there are no downsides chipping a standard 5 cyl 20V turbo to 280/300bhp. Also remember that there is little difference mechanically between the 3B and ABY yet the ABY on overboost will produce 280Lb/ft compared to 228 of a 3B. I know of chipped 3B's that have covered 100K miles after chipping with only small additional changes to get just short of 300bhp without any issues. So I think that says it all..1986 Coupe q - 2281cc 3B, chargecooler, 2.75" exh & downpipe, ported head, water injection, CGR box, modified MD357 turbo, 440cc injectors, high power coil.

I agree completely with the above post... Only gotcha is that its not just a matter of hoking up the boost to try and make more power. Ignition and fuel (especially) are just as important - with correct adjustments for hot or cold ambient. Whilst the ECU does a nice job of stohic running at cruise and part throttle - good chips are needed for healthy AFR on full throttle to avoid excessive combustion temps which can cause premature piston failure for example.
The only downside of running at 280bhp vs 230bhp is the extra fuel required to produce that extra power but ya canny change the laws of physics

S2central and 20vcqdriver are absolutely spot on. Manufacturers have to believe the drivers of their cars are idiots and cater for it. How many company car drivers have a service light come on and ignore it because they have a busy week, or are forced to ignore because they are told they can't have time off the road. I know I for one experienced thatand had to start planning a service 3 - 4k before it was needed or every 10k service became a 15k one.
Running unstressed engines reduces the damage that modern motorists cause through ignorance.
Members here love their cars and are immediately searching for help at the slightest sign of trouble. In the wider world you see people driving around on flat tyres, exhaust dragging on the ground, smoke billowing. Thats what the manufacturers have to cater for. Look after your car like forum members do and running modified chips is no problem.
I have an S6 running a chip from S2central and it has transformed the car. Its just crossed 185k miles and the extra power causes no issues with the engine or gearbox. If anything it runs better and uses less fuel on a journey. Sadly thats not the case when you whallop the throttle all the time but thats the penalty for extra boost and power.
Also run a Passat diesel on a remap that has just crossed 148k. Now that its off the nasty variable servicing routine that VAG cars run, I have no issues. Change oil every 10k and open the bonnet for screenwash. Thats it. Power delivery is sharper and stronger with economy up 2 MPG, nothing else changed and hasn't in the 80k+ miles its been chipped.
Anyone that says chipping an engine causes noticeable wear issues or reliability problems has either never run modified cars or has gone for an over aggressive remap from someone who doesn't have the right knowledge.
Never had an issue with a remap and modern engines are so over engineered, I doubt I could drive far enough to experience.
For me they are a no brainer. Turn any car into a better car to drive and tend to slowly pay for themselves too.Comment
