    acceleration probs

    Hi guys,

Hope I am sticking this in the right section but I am having a bit of a prob under hard acceleration (chased my mate in his new (03 plate) WRX STI Prodrive scooby). It feels like the car stutters at certain points up the rev range and retards itself then gives it stick all in the space of less than a second.

    What do you reakon??

The fuel pump is making a bit of a whirring noise but has ever since I have had the car. There is no boost leak that I can figure as all the intake piping is metal with samco joiners and v.good clamps. Also the boost guage never twitches when it happens.....

Any ideas or is it just the pump not keeping up as it is the standard CQ20 pump fueling a 3B?

    Cheers

mine does a similar behaviour.revs up nicely from 3200-4500,then reduces boost to 1.3 up to 6000rpm then kicks again up to 7000rpm(tested on 4th gear). My chip supposedly keeps the 1.5bar all the way.Besides bar figures,on the same more or less rpms, the car feels a bit drowned when it should accelerate normally.I think i have a portion of bad fuel in the car,and probably im getting this behaviour.I have used injector cleaning in the tank, and also put another one in soon...see how it goes...

I seem to get similar problems i am still trying to get to the bottom of it but whenever i clean the MAF with electrical cleaner it fixes it for a while then it comes back i am going to try isopropyl next and see if that works better.

For a better flowing fuel pump try one of these 044 motorsports high flow units.

Or this one is prolly what you guys need???

Not the fuel filter as it was changed about a month ago when teh oil and oil filter was done, HAve just changed to Samco's and seem to have lost a bit of water so I am going to top it up and see if I lose it again as I am sure I have no leaks so it may be a head gasket job......
Fuel pump sounds like its grinding to death aswell so it may be that too. fuel is BP super stuff so it should be okay.
Haven't cleaned the maf since I had the car so I will also give that a go.
anyone got a how too on that one....

3B fuel pump same as 7A if IIRC

spark plugs were changed last year because of a miss fire addmittedly tho werent new ones, they were out of top sparkys car before the insurance people stole it

sounds like fuel pump could be getting fooked or may be fuel pressure regulator could cause this

Does it get worse when its really hot (weather)?? Mine did this just before the fuel pump died.......
next morning it started ok again!!!! But the Fuel Pump was bad so I swapped it for a new one.
