Can you find out how long the is pipe is: 443 201 220 H
It's off an A100 S4 and looks like it's got the right ends on it. The banjo fitting the the tank is the same and from what I can tell it's the same connection the other end as is on the pipe out of the avant fuel filter (8A0 201 218 C connection to fuel lines)
Could be a start. I'll look at the other end in the engine bay and see what might fit. Hopefully get a chance to look in Jasons engine bay next week.
Can you find the comaprable distance for the Avant pipework? The part numbers are:
8A0 201 220 F (Tank to Filter)
441 201 511 C (Fuel Filter)
8A0 201 218 C (Filter to Fuel Line)
Obvious it doesn't need to be an perfect match as it won't follow the original pipework exactly. Hopefully it's not too long.
The existing plumbing comes from the tank to the bottom of the fuel filter and the up through the filter, out of the top and back down to the fuel pipe.
We only need to go from the tank direct to the fuel pipe.
I'm being dragged out shopping now so I'll carry on looking later.

This looks useful, check out the remote fuel filter: http://www.cmfilters.com/fuel.cfm# gives a few ideas! non of it usuable on ours as we are metric, but some good ideas..
If those lengths are somewhere near accurate and the ends of that S4 pipe are correct I think that will be spot on for the job of removing the filter.
It's only about £25 so I might order one for some experimentation.
Now we need to sort out the engine bay end. It would appear the S4 arrangement would be ok if there is room for all the pipe work. Bit too pricey to order just in case though.
Does anyone know of a place that makes custom fuel pipes? I would have thought it would be cheaper to have a couple of short pipes made up to fit a filter into the engine bay plumbing. (Blue arrow below):
With maybe a cleanable metal filter? Does anyone have any experience of these? Could be a good move as:
(1) They can be cleaned and reused
(2) We can probably find a fairly small one which will do the job
(3) They can be nice and shiny (for the magpies among us)
The strut brace would seem a fairly reasonable mounting point as the fuel pipe runs just below it.

I also tried to replace my filter, but couldnt get to that allen bolt. Finally ended up taking it to a workshop. The guy lated told me that they had to drop down the tank a bit to gain access. When doing that they bent the fuel lines so that I got a leak. They however never admitted that the leak was their fault... *******s.

Ouch!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ops:
Have them replace your fuel lines, if you're sure you had no leaks before (and I'm sure you are, as you've tried to change the filter yourself before taking the car to the garage), they are responsible for it and they have to pay for it. Don't worry, garages generally have good insurances for this kind of purpose!

I had my filter changed by my local 'S' specialist and he said they had to drop the tank and it was a PITA.
After changing it there was a strong smell of fuel from the back of the car (outside only) but I haven't found any leaks and it seems to have gone - although it occasionally apperas

********e, ask Lee what he thinks of mixtures going like 16.3:1 AFR at WOT on the stock chips and EGTs climbing sky-high at 860 degree C after the turbine, just because of that feckin stock fuel filter that was ****** clogged!!!
