Thinking to buy WG spring from 034motorsport for my S6 '95. I'm runing on 1.5bar boost, sometimes it hit 1.6 bar too
Should this one will be good for me:

I've had some boost problems in the past, so I'm about to order that one too. Just to try it out.

I am running that spring in my RS2'd 93 AAN'd S4. Its almost a bit too much. You have to back off the adjustment screw ALL the way out.

I tried it on a four wheel dyno (rolling road?) in March with the 1.9 bar spring in the "normal" three-thread in position. The guy running the car on the dyno, nailed the throttle in 3rd gear and the boost spikes were more than the ECU could handle so it backed off timing and retried over an over again (=bucking). Bottomline: 268 whp. Hmmm... not as good as expected.

Later that day (after the rest of my club members went on the dyno), I replaced the 1.9 bar spring with the stock spring (3 threads in) and re-ran on the dyno. Much smoother and 288 whp.

But I liked the extra snap on initial tip-in that the 1.9 bar spring gave so I reinstalled it. This time with the adjustment screw ALL the way out (up). Much better. Still some occasional bucking if I nail the throttle too hard. Great if you squeeze it gently.

I am not alone in these experiences. I believe the spring works better on stock engines where the boost levels are lower all round. All and all not a bad improvement for the price.

      YMMV

Boost problems shouldn't be addressed with a stiff WG spring, crap, this would be a very nice bandaid but it'd probably end up very expensive to fix if something goes wrong!

Just been out trying this 1.9 spring with my new GT3071.
With the screw all the way out it still produced too much boost, I had to back off the throttle when the meter went past 1.8bars and didn't seem to stop.
With the oem spring in factory position I get 1.4 bars. I think this is a little on the low side as I was told that my MTM-chip shoud have the car running at 1.6-1.7 bars.
Guess I'll have to reinstall the oem spring and tighten that nut some more.
But I have to say, the feeling when going past 1.7 bars is quite addictive! :mischeif:

            hi

i have used a spring similar to this on my 3b and on a cold night the boost read 2.0 BAR! the torue was quite impressive but it felt breathless at top end. Also the boost would tail off loads with high revs, usualy to below 1 BAR. And yes, I checked the fill system and had no leaks.
IMO the fueling wasnt there and thats why it would feel flat at the top end

How far "should" the spring be wound down?

I did a couple of months ago, but cannot remember the values I got..

Yesterday I tried the oem spring wound all the way in and it still did not produce more than 1.4bars. I then put the 1.9 spring back in and wound the screw so that it was about three threads outside of the WG cap.
In second gear the the boost stayed at a steady 1.7bar, but in fourth it was very close or maybe at 1.9bar.
I'll try to release even more spring tension with the screw today, but don't know if it will go out any further.

Also my DV starts fluttering like crazy when above 1.5bars, this might be the reason:
