Paul - why do you oil the threads? surely ths will mean the torque applied will be different if done dry?
I know you said to oil the head bolts as well but the audi manual states all oil should be removed :confused:S2,RS2,S4 WB,RS4,S4 B8,RS6 C5,RS6 C6,R8

Doug, you need to oil the threads so that a greater clamping force can be achieved for a given torque. If you don't do this then some of the torque applied will only be used for overcoming the friction which exists due to a lack of lubricant between the nut and stud thread.
'Wet torque' will be specified if required. Otherwise torque it dry.
