did you have the head pressure tested and did you torque it down properly?

I know it is not in the same field but i once done a Vauxhall cylinder head and when we started it up it ****** oil everywhere, so when i stripped it i found the head gasket was 2.2mm on either end and round part of one side, and 0.9 in the middle.
So i went back armed with vernier calliper and full off you know what, and went ape with them, they pulled out another 3 gaskets and all had the same problem, they courriered one in from another dealer after getting them to check it, that one was ok.Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.--:Albert EinsteinComment

Right people the answer to all those questions is yes, apart from the tuning one.I have only just finished building it back up and not had a chance to get it tuned yet.
The out come of the other thread was that my mate put the dizzy back in out of line with the timing marks even tho he said he didnt ha ha.
DES ... is that possible? all the fittings are different so i dont think you can go wrong there. Having said that i have just took the intercooler off and thats full of water as well? NOT GOOD!
IF it aint broke DONT! fix it

did you skim the head before you put it back on?
did you use new strech bolts?
if you didnt undo the head bolts in the order you tighten them up you may have warped the head hence when it was put under pressure oil gets into water jacket, or water into oil gallerys and you get "mayo"

The head was ok m8 and didnt need a skim. I used ARP bolts that i got from Corey at quattronics when i got the new turbo and rs2 injectors.
Im going to phone him for some much needed advice soon. I have also just noticed that two of the fittings on my new oil line kit have cracked? not sure if that has anythin to do with it but i do know they where fine when they were fitted.IF it aint broke DONT! fix it

Not sure if the oil/water pipes could be swapped at the turbo by mistake, they could be if you plumbed in a new turbo with different lines. Or turbo core cracked? Just other stuff to consider....Comment

I got a full set of lines with the uprated turbo from Corey. It doesnt look like any hoses have split, 1 of the breathers is a bit old and worn out but everything else is fine.
Im sure you cant get the oil and water wrong on the turbo as the fittings are all different and only go where they go and thats it really, Corey sent it to me with the pipes in place anyway all i had to do was tweek them a bit when i fitted the turbo to the car and im sure he would have put them on in the right place. Wouldnt he??
Only joking Corey m8 if you read this, i have total faith in ya.

Did you torque the ARP bolts correctly? there not the same as stretch bolts. Learnt the hard way many years ago and crushed a 10v head. never seen so much oil come out of an ex pipe, had to throw the back box away as it would not stop smoking.Originally posted by sacs2The head was ok m8 and didnt need a skim. I never doubted you for a second or blamed you LOL
Ermm. How did you torque the head back down with the ARP bolts??
it is a very specific and important procedure as DJones mentioned (how you torque the head is with or without ARP bolts..just 2 different methods..........)
your "friend" that got the Dizzy wrong didnt torque your head too did he???Comment
