3071 is bang on i reckon, but ther is a bit more lag than the Rs2 turbo. That is why i say 2871 would probably be a good option for a rs2 replacement if u worried about turbo lag.
i dont regret the 3071 but for everyday use in traffic, maybe not.

you dont need to uprgade clutch if u drive sensibly, i been thrashing my car, killing subarus ,M3's and a E55 with standard clutch and shes holding up so far !!

Injectors and custom remap is what u need, and a good DV.

      Cheers Jade
Have you got any pics cos i don't understand I ran my t04e high output
on a aby ex manifold and the only issue i had was the compresser side was very
big and was hitting the ex manifold sorted it with a spacer. even with the spacer
i had a 1'' of space between the chassis & compressor housing

Does the 3071 hit here ?

          Sorry for OT but:
Today i bought a good as new RS2 turbo to get my S2 up and running again. But when I compare the new turbo to my old damaged RS2 one the turbine outlet differs in size, new RS2 56mm old 54mm. New turbo lacks ID plate. The casted numbers on the comp. housing are the same, comp inlets are the same. The new turbo has previously been installed on a 10V URquattro as a upgrade.
Is this a RS2 turbo or not??, haven't heard of one with 56mm exducer before.

56mm outlet diameter on the turbine housing correct? That's roughly 2.2 inches with is what a RS2 is supposed to have. It should be a K26#6 turbine housing with the 2.2 inch outlet. What are the numbers on the new turbo? Should be 5326 988 7200 I believe, unless its missing the KKK plate on the cold housing. If its an original part, then its 970 not 988.

56mm outlet on the turbine housing, thats correct. The plate on the cold housing is removed, my damaged RS2 turbo has those numbers, but has a 54mm outlet. I think 56mm will mean more lag and I don't want that!!

Are you sure it's 56 and not 55mm? The 10v K26 had 55mm turbine and that should work just fine with rs2 compressor side.
                I've never heard of a K24/26 56mm turbine.

Also the 3071 problem is interesting as my friend just bought the 034 2871 kit and they use the same compressor. The turbine is different and may of course move the turbo slightly. We'll see if we run in trouble with it.

It's 56mm, measured the turbine housing exit it was ~56,2mm, my old RS2 was ~54,5mm. It is stamped 8. in the turbine outlet (a little hard to see, but I'm quite sure it says 8), the RS2 has a 6. stamp. Cold side on "big turbine" turbo is stamped SLT 2617, it is a SLTurbo (Swedish company, www.slturbo.com) just like the guy I bought it from told me.
The only turbo on on their pages with a #8 housing is a URQ upgrade turbo, it has #8 housing as an option, so I guess it is this. Just wondering how much slower spool up this will have compared to standard RS2?

Got the turbo on and yes it spools later and seemingly a little bit harder. Not the best solution (~spoolup of k26/27 #8 and ~top end power of RS2) but wil have to do for a while, have been without the S2 for more or less 3 months, so I am enjoying it anyway

As soon as a get a day spare (working 12hr shifts every day this week ) I'll be updating my "Project 400" thread with details and pictures of my installation of the GT3071 kit on a 3B with RS2 EM. We ran into many problems but with expert-advice (Jon) we were able to overcome most of the problems...

The compressor has good clearance with the chassis, however teh hotside is very big and rests on teh chassis slightly. It sends a harsh vibration through the car and I'm planning to change engine mounts and possibly add a spacer to try and remedy this. Has anyone tried to "mod" the chassis to acommodate the turbo?? Also, the hotside pushes the DP back about 5mm. So it's definitely NOT "direct replacement"! But, that said, it goes like hell and I had no troubles running for a few days on a K24 MRC Map.

I've made 428hp on the RS2-EM with 37lb injectors. EGTs around 750 and 1.8bar to the redline. She pushes 1.9-2.0bar on the road when under high load.

                      Ross.

When I changed my worn out engine mounts the engine was lifted a few mm's, maybe even a full cm, If your engine mounts are worn I would try to replace them first.

Sounds good generic chip or mapped (sounds like a custom map to me ). What is spoolup like, same as RS2?
