I think the Problem when running Chips for 250 Sensor on a 200 sensor will not only be over 1 Bar boost but in the Conmplete Range. The sensros must have Different Voltage Curves.
Whys my car running so slow?!Lethargic S2 ! Expertise needed please guys!!

Other things that cause risable performance are leaky PCV system and a leaky boost hose system (although you say you've fixed all the boost leaks. Are you sure?).
Failing that, check your sparkies when you check the distributor and timing. It could be the dizzy gears are on the way out of course, the 3B had plastic drive gear.
Thanks for that info Dan... PCV system I "think" is ok...its certainly clean now and I couldnt see any tears in the hoses or any other causes for concern...As you know on a 3b with battery tray
access is at best "limited" down there without a rad out job..
Boost is Im sure ok...Surely it would not boost to 18psi if it had a boost leaK??
Also it does not feel like a boost leak so much...more like the brakes are on during WOT!!
Its had new plugs last week...the "proper" bosch OEM ones...
How much is a new Dizzy?? anyone know a good source...gonna check timing and dizzy tonight

S2central has kindly sold me an emergency 250kpa map sensor!!!! so Im going to fit it as soon as it lands and post back on if it cured the problem
ps// did you get my pm billman?

What gauge are you getting these figures from??? If it's like the digi gauge in the S4/6 then it's not that accurate to start with, if it's a similar type of oem digi gauge then if you are you using a different map sensor it will show an incorrect figure. My S6 has a 3.0bar vmap in it, and shows 2.1bar maybe 2.2 sometimes corrected this would be 2.52 to 2.64 (correction factor multiply by 1.2). Your gauge and car may be different from mine though, and obviously my gauage isn't showing the true level of boost either. Chips and vmap sourced from a friend in the USA who deals only with Mihnea.Comment

I have a proper boost gauge not the OEM digi one!!

It is a correct reading as I only have stock 200KPa map sensor and IIRC it will be correct even with a 300KPA one due to reading directly the boost from the ECU vacuum pipe//
Someone correct me if I m wrong but I though only the OEM type digi gauges got stumped with a new maps sensor?Comment

As I thought....Thanks Billman
Got the new map sensor on the way thanks to Paul so I will post up as soon as I have fitted it on results :mischeif:Last edited by s2dude; 6 September 2006, 18:30.Comment

Cheers Jamo but I think I would have more chance of getting a train to the moon than being able to borrow Victors maf for an hour or twoOriginally posted by JamoTry swapping MAF's with Andy and see if your car performs better mate.

I got a new dizzy and rotor from VAGParts, it's not expensive. If you want to change the plastic drive gear for a metal one, there's a guy on ebay who sells them. Access to the dizzy is not good by the way - you might find it easier to do it with the intake manifold removed!Originally posted by s2dudeThanks for that info Dan... I do think it sounds like the wrong map sensor is the issue here, but always worth checking out the other potential problems too - have you got access to VAGCOM, see if it's logged any error codes?Ex S2 owner, now running around in an A4 Avant quattro...

I havent managed to locate a gear on ebay...
it seems the guy does not have any for sale ATM
Does anyone have for sale a METAL dizzy gear that they are not using please
PM me if so thanks
Gonna try and get Vag Com working on my XP laptop but I think I need a newer version of Vag Com than I have (got the leads) as it only works on really slow laptops form what I remember..
or i suppose I could use the old flashing led trick from s2centralComment

No offence, but please don't say "proper" when meaning the brand autogauge. They're.. not so great.
Probably was not running over 1bar earlier even if the gauge said so...
Your second hand chips may be what ever. They might be for what ever MAP and now your ign timing and mixtures may be what ever (no, no direct link with MAP, but different air masses).
I could tell you in 2 seconds if the chips are MTM or not if I had the binaries.-Comment

Porkkis.....What evidence do you have to say that "autogage" are not proper???!!!Originally posted by porkkisNo offence, but please don't say "proper" when meaning the brand autogauge. They're.. not so great.

Do you have proof of their innacuracies?? Can I see it?
Now Im not saying they are the best out there.....they are certainly not. But it works well. And has always read bang on the money for wastegate spring limited boost....meaning I trust it :mischeif:
and your right. These chips may be faked MTMs..even though they have MTM serial number on (I have checked it
) but whatever......the car runs very well now and is very fast compared to stock.
If it blows....is no problem.
I have an AAT block and a pile of parts building up
