    Turbo after run pump

    Hi all

I think I have an issue with my turbo cooling pump and just need a bit of clarification from the experts please. I have read the number of post in this regard and think my issue is the switch that triggers the pump. On my old S2 the pump and fan used to come on as soon as I switched off the car when the main rad fan was running. This does not happen on the RS. I have checked the pump itself and can hear it spin up when I put the ignition on.

Does anybody have a pic of the switch that triggers the pump (location etc). I gather it's near the front of the engine down by the thermostat. Is there any way to test this switch (resistance, stick it in the kettle etc) I see there are also a few options to fit other switches (LT and FAE). Is there some more info on these, such as what cars they are fitted to. This will make it easier to locate them here in SA.

    Thanks
    Andre

Do a search and you will find a thread on it...

Or wait for Jamo, and if he is in a good mood he will post the link!

You've probably already found This but just in case! Just replaced my pump - still covered in bruises as its a bloody nightmare to get at on a 3B unless you take the radiator out and can move the ABS module!! No doubt much easier on an ABY!

        cheers

Probably your old car had a faulty switch or with significantly lower temp rating.

Btw the pump has about nothing to do with turbo. It's used to avoid hot spots in cyl head after a drive.

The switch is located near the MFTS and thermostat. It's about accessible in LHD cars, dunno about RHD.

FAE3547 is from some corrado IIRC.
