Don't be polishing your inlets mate - just the exhaust side !

7A cam is good for top end power, but not so good for low-mid torque.

IIWU - I'd go for a nice straight 3" exhaust and a sports CAT next.

Then the RS2 IC... Then some head-work might squeeze some more beans out... Doing the dyno runs after each stage would be nice info - as long as they are done consistently of course. Investment in a little G-meter or using VAG-COM would let you log in gear acceleration times for some more objective before and after data.

Obviously these run on the slightly rich side for safety margin - important with any generic upgrade. Running leaner and with higher EGTs would give you more zip - looks to me you have planty of headroom for that.
I fully agree with the slightly rich safety margin on a generic upgrade, i would rather be in this position asking how to get more power, than asking what caused my pistons to melt or worst

Could be the dreaded heatsoak I guess... could you have suffered from that more than the others on the day ?
Car had been stood for 4 hour before going on the rollers, air temp at air box inlet was 16deg c

Seeing as you have the AFR & EGT gizmos, it might be worth you fitting an adjustable FPR to yours and try carefully reducing the pressure to make you run leaner at WOT. The reduced pressure at idle should be within adaptation limits on lambda control. Its worth a try I reckon - have you actually measured your fuel pressure ? Maybe it is on the high side
I have tried and logged a few different preset FPR's wiyh different results, i showed Mihnea some of my AFR logs, one of which he thought was fair so i'll try this set up out again and see how it is

Out of interest - what fuel is the car running ?

Forgot to mention this at the time as I wrote a long post on it and then the forum and my computer decided to have a falling out before it was put up.

I might have identified why my car and possibly others were running very rich on the dyno, mine was at 10:1 AFR and robbed it of power for sure. I also had the overboost protection cut in on the 2nd run, something that had not happened on the road for some time, was embarassing at teh time and made me rather worried!

The car still pulled 258bhp on a standard map though...

I think it was the manifold pressure reference line for the RR that the operator had just placed on the DV reference line pipe on the IM, that was leaking. I say this that as he didn't re-fit my fuel clamp on the DV line and after the RR session, the car ran like crap with several over boost protection moments. The car had run superbly on the way over there on the A46 as an RX8 owner would have told you!!!

I located the problem and applied the now time-honoured cable ties to solve the problem. No overboost protection since, job done . Makes sense to me.
