Gotta have someting to put the money on when the car is finished: rebuilds!

I don't thing I'll reach 600HP. I Just want the engine to be fit for a pair of horsepowers more than it'll be running.

That depands on the size of the catch tank

...and the flow ratio of the original pump...

The calculation was 2 litre catch tank and 100l/h on std pump. Probabli it'll flow much more but just as an example...

The problem with that isn't fuel or ignition, engine management or air supply but rather the heat such amounts of HP produce. The Audi 90 IMSA was using special head castings in order to produce 700 HP between 6500 and 8500 RPM with a peak at 730 somewhere around 7500 RPM, but yet it required so frequent rebuilds that it can be in no way considered as a reliable engine.

I know of some guys running 530+ HP in Germany and who rebuild their engines every 2 months or so... this is in no way meant to discourage any of you, but quite frankly, for my own car, I won't ever go past 450-470 HP simply because I'm sure I won't have the time, money, nor the will to rebuild my engine even every year or so....

The day I want 600+ BHP, I'll get myself an RS4 and start poking around it, stuff some nice goodies and make it produce 650-700 HP, which is still somehow more reliable than an IMSA engine...

          Just a thought,

          Mihnea

Last time I heard from a swedish S2 owner, nicknamed "Slime", he had used his engine for 3000 ("swedish") miles i.e two seasons, with no major problems-not inside the engine anyway. I dont claim that it´s easy to build a engine with that kind of power and make it work-but it can be done! In saptember last year, me and another guy rented the intired track at "Midlanda Motorpark", and invited pretty mutch anyone who wanted to join us. After a couple of days I´ve got an mail from Slime, he wondered how far he had to go to come to the track. "No problem" I responded, since I new were he lived, you got 230 km to the track.
Ok, I will come! Was the answer-and he did. Drove the way up to us, at the time he got to the track, he started to change fuel to WP, then drove at the track the intire day just to change back to "road fuel -98 oct-" and go back home-no trailer!
          I call that impressive!
          Btw-this is his homepage:

          Ohhh...I forgot-that engine pulls 627hp...

The nice thing about these pumps is that they can be mounted in the tank or externally.

            Cheers,

            Mark.
Okay, so the same pump with the fitting on the fuel intake instead of the wide open bottom with a screen, can be fitted inside the tank? Does anything screw into the bottom of it or is it just left as-is and mounted in the basket?

            Thanks,

Has someone something like this setup! RS2 stock in the fuel tank and an external one? Where can someone build the catch tank in the car so it will not affect everyday use?

              Greetings

Do a google search for "swirl pot" and you should come up with some hits.

Edit: Actually check out "surge tank" for info too. Here's a link:

This is my catch tank. Doing over 400 hp now. Tank 1.2 l. Porsche pump in the rear tank filling the catch tank and Bosch motorsport drawing from catch tank to fuelrail. 6.7 bar fuel pressure @1.6 bar boost.

Just about that. Gives a nice fine spray from the injectors.
People once said that you could not go that high in pressure, but it runs very good.
