Decided to have a poke around today to see if i could find the cause of my cutout problem, and found this, pic is a bit blurry:wacked:
i only fitted this samco hose 5 months ago, cant see how its failed so soon, wasnt stressed in anyway
just about to take it for a spin, so we'll see.
decided to take the dv apart whilst i was there, i bought it from the guy i bought my turbo from, it was brand new but cant see any markings on it, are these internals the same as the forge dv?
the spring has some blue paint sprayed on it!!
It looks pretty much like a Forge DV006. Forge provides four different springs for their valves. From the softest to the strongest: Green, yellow, blue and red. My DV007P was supplied with the softest one (green).
i stated in previous post that i'd sorted this problem but it returned a few days later, those of you at gregs garage meet on the sunday will have probably seen me still suffering from this and unable to get it remapped.
well have cured it today , was the damn f*&%$ng coil ht lead, i cant beleive this caused me nearly 3 months of agro
F#%$&ing piece of ****e:wacked:
i'll have to invest in some new leads,
is it correct that 7a leads are the same but a lot cheaper?
ps. the flipping clutch is slipping slightly now...rraaggh
no more nasty misfires though
How did you find that the coil lead was causing a problem? I am now getting misfire problems at 1.8 bar boost Plugs are good, just thinking it may be a HT lead or the coil itself.

well if you remember i fitted those very thick leads which were on that 100 avant ive got, presumed they were an improvement, anyway ive checked just about everything else, tried a spare coil today, just tie wrapped it to strut brace, lead was a bit stretched but just reached, it ran even worse.
inspected the lead and noticed a bit of green crap forming on the contact.
so tried the lead of the 100 on the original coil and..voila, goes like stink.
i reckon these leads are worse than the originals!
the spare coil i have is from a 7A, im told they are the same, you can try it if you want.
Martin, I also have a misfire under heavy load. I'm pretty sure it's a HT lead too. I'm not sure about the 7A leads being the same as the S2. It would be good if they were because the S2 leads are so damn expensive. I have been advised that the Magnacor leads for the S2 can be problematic, however, I have no personal experience of this. I bought #5 lead for my car recently and that set me back £30..ouch! They are silly money from Audi.
Guys, I wouldn't advise you to use 7A leads on 3Bs running high boost such as yours, because I'm afraid the insulating properties of the 7A leads are inferior to the 3Bs. I have no proof of this but I would hate you guys buying new stuff that's cheaper only to discover it's not as good as the 3B stuff.
The other solution is coil per plug

Has anyone tried any of the other springs in your Forge DV?
I have the green one in at the moment. I tried the blue spring, but this produced surging when I took my foot off the gas. I've experimented with the washers they provide and found that two washers and the green spring is pretty good for my setup. The red spring must be for monster boost!
I've had hellish problems with supposed "better" HT leads in the past. I ended up going through 3 sets in 6 months, plus two distributors and two sets of plugs on my 80Sport before I solved that particular running issue I used to have. Turned out that the "improved" HT leads were neither screened properly, nor were they long enough, so over time they would work themselves loose from the vibrations of the engine and start arcing...
For the 3B, is there a sensible alternative to the standard Audi part?
Ex S2 owner, now running around in an A4 Avant quattro...
I now have a set of 7A leads fitted, they seem to be exactly the same except for the plug ends which are about 1/2 inch longer, they still just fit in the cover though. AFAIK they measure the same as a good set of 3b leads too.
@ steve, im using the blue spring, works ok with dv in original position, tried it in reversed position, sounds a lot better, rally style chatter, but was surging, i'd prefer to keep it in that position, i'll try a different spring then.
which way round is your dv?
