running lean -- plan of action?

hi guys ... been busy lately ... I found out that my s2 runs lean fuel and pushes 260hp with 320 ftlbs

I had this dynoed recently ...

the car was chipped in 1997 by amd .. any idea on how to fix the lean running?

the fuel filter was changed before dyno too....

Ive been told to get a remap ... but i dont wanna fork out loads of money to find that it doesnt fix the problem

is there a specialist i can see?

The problem is the map/chip itself, it runs lean up the top end!

Solution, get a MRC remap or a generic chip from MRC or Mr Nugent
    Cheers,

LOL. I thought that chips on the S2 gave a tendency to run a bit rich - apparently the extra un-burnt fuel in the exhaust is used as a means to keep EGTs down?
Ex S2 owner, now running around in an A4 Avant quattro...

Or the more fuel in the engine during combustion keeps the temps down
        Cheers,

Probably the longet S2 project in history EVER!

surely it would have shown up on the previous dyno runs? (the lean running).. (i have them too)

... what leaks would i need to look for - if any, that might cause lean running? is this a possibility? .. ive no idea

                  bump .....

would a boost leak cause lean running? or hesitence at high speed?

or is there such thing as a build up of crap in the fuel system leading to me stripping and blasting with a compressor? + fuel pump too?

                  ideas?

You can have your injectors cleaned up, and also replace your fuel pump for a bosch motorsport. But your putting band aids on a cut artery mate.

If i was you buy a home fry chip or have it remapped at MRC.

Was it lean only at top rpm or through out the range?

Get bigger injetors or raise the fuel pressure if you don't want to pay for a remap.
But you're still risking your engine. I would say, better to pay for a new map than a new set of rods and pistons..

Just realised you have a 3B so you can't buy a home fries chip.

Changing the FPR as prosty says to an ABY or 7A one which will raise fuel pressure to 4bar. Depends though this may make you too rich.

Chriss After mucho hunting, stripping and playing there is nothing I have found other than a few grazed knuckles and the need for a new dizzy cap and arm. Changing the HT leads too for good measure mind. (Okay okay I am doing lots of other work whislt I am here but a remapp is the way forward!!)

Jamo what pressure does the AAN FPR run at?

The AAN and ABY are both 4 bar
